Beatrix Potter ornaments back on show!

Reasonably busy day again. I went into the town for a while this morning, had a letter to post and wanted to get some veg for dinner tomorrow. There were carol singers outside the bakery, not professionals, the palliative care people raising money. It was pretty chilly and quite a few had turned out.
Talking of carol singers the church group evening Tina and I went to was really good last night, brilliant singing group. lovely food and very enjoyable. I won a raffle prize, this rather lovely, small 'bee vase'.
I went into a shop called 'Countdown' and it is like Aladin's cave, I managed to get some of the strong picture hanging pins and some longer screws for fixing my shelves to the wall. We haven't got a pound shop any more but I can see this little shop being the next best thing!
I thought it was time to clean the ceramic jardiniere a bit as it was pretty grubby and neglected. I still really love it and haven't decided on it's final home yet.
The grubby clothes in front are testament to how much it needed to be cleaned up. With help from Darren I got my shelf unit up onto the wall, it should really be on something, but the feet are quite attractive and it is staying there now regardless.

My Beatrix Potter collection have been boxed away for over a year. I packed them up when Blue came into the house, as they were on the ground then and way to much temptation for a cheeky, inquisitive kitten!
I helped Tina sort some recycling and then loaded the car up with her and we took another full car of stuff to the tip. The guy there was very helpful and when I told him we were new to the area and didn't have a small food waste bin he went and got us one with a couple of rolls of the liners.
Before Strictly I got the marzipan onto four more cakes, so all the ones that have to be ready by next weekend are at least started!

  1. You’re certainly getting out and about. You’ll soon be one of the 'locals'. It’s nice that it’s a smaller place than Scarborough and they have stuff like the carol singers on the street and the one you went to last night. More of a community. You’ll fit in a treat.
The shelf looks great on the wall, specially with all your ornaments on it. It really doesn’t look out of place at all. In fact it going to be a really nice room by the time you’ve got it how you want it. Very cosy.
Hope you find time for at least one day of rest next week :-)

  2. I love that shelf and you look at it properly now it's on the wall. I had forgotten how much I love the little Beatrix Potter figurines.
The stuff is coming from Duggleby's on Friday, then I can really get everything in place.
