We got away just after eight this morning and had a good journey to the track. Not too much traffic and we parked fairly near the entrance. None of us had a particularly good night as it was stiflingly hot. Maybe we will try sleeping with the very loud air conditioning tonight.
We had a cup of tea and then separated for a bit so that Darren and Tina could have a walk around the site and watch final practice from a different stand. I went up to our seats, got very wet and cold, it was more like November than July! Sat next to another couple and the trip was a treat for the man's 50th birthday, quite a coincidence.
I will post one picture I took in that session.
I had a little wander around before I met up with Darren and Tina, to say it was heaving would be an understatement and the queues for drinks and food were unbelievable. There were some crazy bike contraptions, the more you peddled the more you went round in circles. I didn't have a go.
Managed to get a picture of one of the helicopters that keep circling.
Should have put the one on with Darren in his new cap with the stand in the background.
We watched qualifying and Lewis is on pole. This photo is of Lewis, trust me, I wouldn't lie!!!
It rained again during qualifying and was a bitterly cold wind. Tina and I have been out to get some tea tonight and it is muggy and quite bright. At the moment the forecast is for rain as the race starts!
You're doing very well for missing the traffic, I really thought it would be very busy around there. Tomorrow might be different though I suppose as it's actually the race day. Glad Lewis got pole position, maybe you brought him luck :-) Pity you didn't have some luck with the weather! Fingers crossed tomorrow is better regardless of what the forecast says!
ReplyDeleteThose bike things look weird. Don't think I'd fancy a go on them much myself. Now the mac and cheese store, in the photo with Darren, well that's a different matter. I think I'd enjoy a couple of goes on that :-)
Not that I didn't trust you, but I enlarged the picture and zoomed in, and it is Lewis :-)
Hope your last day there goes well. Have fun.
Getting Lewis's car made up for all the ones I have deleted that were carless......
ReplyDeleteMight be Mac n Cheese for breakfast tomorrow!
