This morning Darren and I set off just before 8 am to go to an airfield near York for Darren to have his Gyrocopter flying experience. We had a good journey there and Darren wanted me to take a picture of the display board when we arrived. I hadn't looked at it closely.
The people there were welcoming and the place and the different machines were very interesting. Darren and the other guy flying this morning were shown the gyrocopter and had the controls explained.
We went to a brief talk and Darren was flying second so we watched while the first flight took place. The Darren had to get into a suit, that was entertaining!!
Sorry Darren, they had to go on, I did take more!
Then it was out to the machine to get ready of the off.
Then a thumbs up before they set off.
They taxied quite a way for the take off, I will try and put a video link.

I took three very short videos and did actually have him on the screen! He had a 40 minute flight and then they were heading back in.
Back at base, all safe and sound.
I think this picture says 'that was good'.
We looked at the merchandise and got Darren a jacket before we left. It was great to go with him and a bonus that there was very little walking involved.
We stopped at a fabulous fish and chip restaurant on the way home, great service and a fabulous meal. After that the traffic was pretty awful for the next hour, but Darren didn't seem to mind too much. When we eventually got back to Scarborough, and the traffic was building up again, we called in at Deans and had cake for dessert.
All in all a great trip out and a fabulous experience for Darren.
Wow! What a great time he must have had going up in that. I'm definitely jealous! Great that you got to go along too and got some good pics, including him fighting with the suit :-) That's mums for you Darren if you read this, they love embarrassing their children! The final pic definitely shows an "I enjoyed that" look. A bit of traffic on the way home was worth it for a nice time there. Fish and chips and then a nice cake do make up for any delays though :-) And a good time was had by all.........
ReplyDeleteDefinitely a day to remember and I am so pleased I got some decent pics. The good food made it pretty perfect really.
