It is grey and wet tonight but the sky went through different stages again last night.
This morning Darren and I went along to the boot sale as usual. We had our sandwich and cuppa and then I just browsed the stalls that were on the way back to the car. Did get a word making card game and another house plant. When it is repotted I will take a picture.
Darren dropped me off along the south bay near the Life Boat house as Tina was taking the blessing of the boats service. This is an annual event held during the Sea Fest weekend. The was a sign on the fence telling visitors of the service. The new lifeboat house is a grand building.
I was the first one to be seated, the doors were open so that you could see the boat and the sea.
A picture of seagulls and a pirate ship.
Tina talking through the arrangements before the service started.
The lifeboat team stood here for the duration of the service.
The service started once the standard bearers were in place.
Tina taking the service. It was lovely, several hymns, some great readings and then prayers and the blessing of the boats. Lots of people there in support.
I got Tina to stand in front of an actual boat, rather than the vehicle that transports it.
I caught a but along the front after the service and then had a very slow walk up to the house. I passed this tree, I have a bit of a thing about bark, remembering drawing trees with colourful bark as long ago as when I was a teenager.
Had a fairly quiet afternoon, did make a start on the roof of the fairy house.
We had dinner together a little while ago and now I plan to have a restful evening.
I still find it hard to believe you get all those different sky colours in the same evening! I'd be happy to have taken any one of those.
ReplyDeleteGlad you got out to the boot sale for your Sunday sausage bap with Darren :-) The bargains are just a bonus to a morning out with him.
The lifeboat house is very impressive. A bit more substantial than some I've seen. We really do take things like lifeboats for granted. I can't imagine what it must be like to be called out in a really rough sea. You certainly have to be a special type of person to want to volunteer for a job like that!
The roof on the fairy house looks great. A lot of detail in that, and I'm guessing there's going to be a lot more detail going into the rest of it before it's done. Is it actually a practical item, like a key box etc, or is it purely decorative?
So many nights I take a photo, then I am up and down as the sky changes, it has been quite a revelation to me. I used to rush out and take pics is Peterborough it I noticed the sky, couldn't get a shot from the window, but here I have had the bonus of having a clear view of the changes.
ReplyDeleteI think it is great that the bless the boats every year, a lovely tradition. Good for the crews to get recognition too.
The fairy house has no practical use,I just thought it would be good for a bit of pyrography practice.
