The eagle has landed!

This morning Tina drove me up to Angela’s house where we met her sister and collected the carved eagle as no one else had wanted it. More on that later as we dropped it off at home and then set off for a trip to Stamford Bridge. Quite a long journey but through pretty countryside. A free car park there that was a bonus. Took one picture, of a mill I think, then we went to have a drink before taking a walk.
Once refreshed we set off, a Viking ship before we reached the footpath.
We had spotted the viaduct from the car park so went in that direction.
The only metal part was over the river.
The actual Stamford Bridge.
We walked over to the other side to the footpath over the bridge. There was a weir behind the trees!
Had to have an arty reflection!
We stopped in Driffield on the way home so that Tina could charge the car. While she waited for a space I shopped in Lidl and got some icing blocks.
The eagle waited by the stairs for Darren to get home, as it is quite heavy.
A couple of photos from different angles up on the landing.
An indoor sketch again today.

  1. A very nice trip out. It looks a really nice place. I do like viaducts. They can be quite plain, but they're great pieces of engineering. Back in the day when we had actual craftsmen in this country! They'll still be here years after more recent stuff rots and decays! Great for pics too. It's compulsory to have a arty reflection 🙂
The eagle is beautiful, I love it. I can imagine it is very heavy. I don't understand why anyone wouldn't like that. Lucky for you they didn't.
    Great sketch as usual 🙂

  2. It was a good outing, and not often we stop near a viaduct. Would be nice to sketch, but not in few minutes.
I was amazed that they hadn’t found a taker for the eagle, but as you say, lucky for me!
I do enjoy drawing the plants.
