Not quite so lazy

We did go to the boot sale, it was cold but bright this morning. The windows of the car were a bit icy. A lot of the field where the boot sale is held was fenced off and it had been dug up. Someone told us it had been sold and a lot of bases for caravans were going to be there. When we arrived there were a few stall holders in the car park so that explained why. Just bought some sponge paint brushes which would be ideal if I decided to get some Indian printing blocks. We called in at the reclamation centre on the was home. Darren was keen for me to take a photo of these motorbikes.
I did some household chores before lunch. I went outside to find inspiration for a sketch and hen looking round I saw that the fatsia we have had for years had flowered for the first time.
I picked a couple of dead weed sprigs to do a sketch!
This afternoon I did some clearing in the gardens for an hour or so, mostly cutting back things that had died and digging up so wild geraniums which spread like wild fire. The mahonia bush is stunning and the flowers are open enough to release the lovely scent.
Every year I wonder why you cannot get mahonia perfume.
I had a bit of a relax with Pandora, who still has her chest infection, before getting on with dinner.
My sore throat is much better and I am coughing less, so good news on that front. Have watched the Strictly results and at the moment am pinned down by Pandora again!

  1. I hope the sale of part of the land won’t mean the boot fair will stop. Although I’m sure you wouldn’t have too much trouble finding another.
I really like the old motorbikes. I had an old BSA Bantom many many years ago and I stripped and rebuilt it in the living room where I was living at the time 😊 Those were the days!
Always plenty for you to be getting on with in the garden. You never get to think “nothing to do out there today” 🙂 Perhaps the front garden in Scarborough wasn’t so bad after all!
I know how much you love the smell of the mahonia. It was always nice walking into Shortfen when it was flowering. As you say, it’s strange they don’t do a perfume.
I hope the throat and cough clear up soon.
I really like your sketch. Even the glass looks like glass, and that’s not easy!

  2. May do a bit more in the garden today, although the garden bin s full so maybe not! Doesn’t take much to talk me out of it at the moment……
I think they will just have stalls in the car park every week as there is an area that isn’t used and they do have an extra field for partaking when it is busy.
