Short and sweet

Today I have spent over four hours on buses as I went to Castle Hill hospital to visit a friend. I did spend a couple of hours with her. So really not much more to add. I did s sketch before I went out.
Just one other photo, probably more interesting to me than you, some mahonia bushes near the bus stop at the hospital.
Nicely settled for Strictly now.

Red sky at morning…….

A fantastic start to the day, could only take pics through the window. Two by me and one brilliant one Darren sent through from when he arrived at work.
Visited Bel this morning as usual, she seemed quite well but had back ache. She made the drinks today but let me carry them through to the sitting room.
After lunch I went down to the banking hub, wearing the earrings that Terry made, which they loved. It was their one year anniversary today, what a pleasure it has been to have the hub with such lovely staff.
Jean was insistent that Terry should collect me as well as bring me home. So as ai wasn’t walking down I did my sketch in the garden before he arrived.
As he collected me I was able to take her Christmas cake, slowly getting them out of the kitchen! We had a good chat and I took a couple of photos in her living room, they decorate the hall and the whole house really, it is like a wonderland!
It was Lights Night this evening so I went to see the Christmas tree festival in the church.
I walked along the street, hundreds of people about. Took a couple of the churches as don’t often see them lit up.
And one of the street when the lights had been turned on before I came indoors.
You’ll be surprised to hear that I have had Pandora on my lap since I got in. She has now decided that under the radiator is a better spot!

Morning walk on a lovely day

I needed to be around during the early part of the day as the Ringtons man was due. While I was waiting Steve arrived to mow the lawns, but with the recent rain and this mornings frost we agreed that mowing would do more harm than good. So he did some other jobs around the garden which was very helpful. After getting in the tea and biscuits supplies I got ready to take a walk, with the sketch book of course. The pampas near the front looked splendid against the blue sky.
A couple of pics as I made my way along the front.
Another beach sketch but I do enjoy trying to capture the sea.
Some chores and doing crosswords this afternoon as I wasn’t sure whenTina was driving home. In the end she had. Difficult journey home and arrived home late to get Pandora to the vets. Pandora seems to have a sixth sense as she usually rushes to welcome Tina home but this time she short off upstairs as her car came down the drive! So we couldn’t catch her in time and we now have a new appointment arranged for next week!
I an gong to get around to sending off a couple of competitions out of the puzzle book, I usually do them and then forget to enter them!
Rosie collected her cake today and Jean will have hers tomorrow. I want to see the back of them now and create some space in the kitchen.

Quick trip to Hull

I want to catch the bus to Castle Hill hospital on Saturday to visit a friend. Our buses used to go to Castle Hill but have recently changed the times and when I checked the routes have been changed too. Ours no longer go there so I decided to take the bus into Hull to find what bus does go there and get a timetable. It was a dull, wet day and I had nothing planned so I thought why not?
That was soon sorted when I got into the city so I had a coffee and went off for a wander. The large reindeer is back outside St Stephens.
I bought another small sketch book for after the present one is full and then walked to the door bridge that I like. I did do a sketch but finished when the rain started again.
These tepees were quite impressive near the bridge.
I had a sandwich at Waterstones and resisted buying any books this time.
I got on with tea soon after I was home and now have the poorly cat on my lap again, we are taking her to the vets for blood tests tomorrow.

A fishy tale and welcome back to an old friend!

I walked up to Freeport this morning, wore a hat and gloves as it was bright out but very cold. On my way down to the pottery I saw that the plastic nativity was back, now with only one animal so they made a smaller stable! It is not yet accompanied with the hymns which always makes me smile. I look forward to its return each year.
Rob told me the koi carp had been glazed and fired, which I made todays sketch while waiting for Caroline to arrive as she wanted us to do some clay work. I didn’t take photos of the carp until I got home, so sketch first!
I got two pairs of earrings bought for me today, reindeers from Caroline and then water melons from one of the ladies at the banking hub.
Caroline gave me a lift home after we had spent a couple of hours making items for Christmas. I was able to give her the cake so one less filling the kitchen. I did pop round to see Sher and Haley to let them know their cakes were ready for collection.
Did then take photos of the koi carp, pleased how it turned out.
Nothing else but doing a few chores and now have a poorly cat on my lap. Her first cuddle today.

Better weather

How lovely to have a bright day. Tina was expecting a large delivery this morning and it arrived quite early. I love the fact that drivers of large vehicles manage to reverse down the drive and most of the car drivers make a hash of it!
I was able to get out for a walk and made my way to the front where I did a sketch without dodging the rain.
A picture of the sea then I walked home.
I have decorated the cakes today, just one picture, they are all bit different but you get the gist.
Pandora looked so cute today.
I visited Sarah and David this afternoon and when I got home Darren and Tina were back. They had a good trip and bought me back a few nice bits.
Off to the pottery tomorrow.

Dodging the rain!

I wanted some more fondant icing and wanted to get out for a bit today. Originally I thought I would walk to the front and then make my way to Tesco along the trail. It had looked bright out but it stated spitting as I set off, so thought I would just go to Tesco and not do longer walk. I only took a big and it wa. Bit on the heavy side, but as I left the store the rain had stopped so made my way  to the trail.
I stopped to do a sketch of the sea wall and it started to rain so the ink was running and then the pen wouldn’t write t all! Managed to get a quick sketch done,
I had a drink at the hub and then walked back, the bag felt heavier by the step.
I did red for a while, will soon have finished the book. Then I made another batch of cake decorations,
Then I decorated some of the ones I made yesterday.
The trees with the three half balls on will go on Rose and Rosie’s cakes s they are vegan sweets!
Will finish with a couple of pictures from Tina.

Endless rain

The good thing about day of endless rain is the disappearance of the snow and ice. It really was rough out there today.
I haven’t done a lot so will begin with the pics from the travellers.
Tina took this one as she knows I love lily of the valley.
I have done some reading today, really enjoying ‘Raising Hare’, beautifully written by a lady who reared a baby leveret.
I did go to the shop a couple of times, because of my bad memory. Not very far but got pretty wet both times.
I have spent some of the day making decorations for the cakes.
I did a sketch of a couple of hats then added a rose later!
Hoping to get out for a bit tomorrow if the rain has stopped.
