Forecast to be the hottest day of the year, sadly not here and we were definitely underdressed! We went to Sewerby Hall and gardens, we haven’t been there for a few years. I only took one picture in the hall but it was really interesting with videos to watch about staff from years ago and many items of interest that could be handled and descriptions of what they were used for. Lots to interest and occupy the younger visitors. After the hall we went round the zoo.
The prairie dog was really cute.
A sunbathing penguin!
Neither of us had seen a caoti before.
We had some lunch then had a walk in the grounds.
We were home before the ceramic festival had closed for the day and I had seen a large snail that would be great in the garden. I had money on one side from when I was doing shifts at the pottery si decided to go and but it.
We had Chinese takeaway got tea and a bit later finished off with cake, so a good birthday.
The bowl is brilliant. I really love it. What are you going to put in that?
ReplyDeleteHmmm, so much for the hottest day. I went out expecting to be roasted after you told me about it, but sadly it never happened. I did have the sense to take my body warmer, just in case.
I’m sure it was Sewerby Hall you and I went to a couple of times. Very nice place. I remember taking dressing up pictures as they had clothes to try on. I don’t remember a zoo though, so perhaps I’m mixing it up with somewhere else. Although I do recognise the grounds.
I can see from the pics you were dressed for the non existent summers day!
The carvings in the grounds are really good. Such a skill as you have to think in 3D so you don’t chop the wrong bits out!
I can see why you had to buy the snail. Great bit of work and a lot bigger than I expected. I wonder what the cats will make of that? 🙂
A Chinese on your birthday is almost obligatory, and the cake looks so nice it’s almost a shame to cut it……I said almost! 😊
All in all a really nice day for your birthday…….apart from the wintery weather 😂
The bowl is not very big, maybe a few sweets, it needs to be seen and not hidden away.
ReplyDeleteSewerby is great place, and although busy it doesn’t seem it as there is so much to see.
The snail is big and is really unusual.
Will wrap up against the even hotter heatwave in the morning!
Happy Birthday, Jan. Looks like you had a nice day at a beautiful place. Thanks for all the great photos.
ReplyDeleteGlad I could share them 😃
