I got all the cakes ready along with my case and a hamper for Anya and family and left them in the hall for Darren nd Tin to load into the car. Then Caroline picked me up at 8.15am to take me to the train station. I had a message on the way into Hull to say the second train was delayed so hope our plans weren’t bout to be scuppered! Very nice mural on the station.
That train was on time but Doncaster station was chaotic with lots of trains being delayed or cancelled. Mine was about twenty minutes late but then no more hold ups. Isobel met me at the station and we joined Anya in Waitrose cafe to have a bit of lunch. We took Isobel back home and then set off on out drive to London to go and see the Strictly semi final live! The weather wasn’t too bad and it wa a pretty straightforward run so we were there in good time to get registered. The first photo of the studios was the wrong entrance, but it proved we were there as there would be no photo taking in the show.
We were pointed in the right direction, the rain by then was icy but thankfully it wasn’t too far to walk.
We had to queue outside where out ID’s were checked and we were given stickers!
As soon as we were inside phones and smart watches had to be handed in, so we then had no idea what time it was, then the coats were handed in. The room did get very crowded and was very loud but we did m age to find. Couple of seats, as we were going to be in the waiting are for an hour or two, and then we had to start making out way into the studio as our numbers were called. We got seats upstairs bore the judges table, as first we though we may not see much of the dancing but we were proved wrong as they were in view for us for most of the dances. We were seated a couple of metres from where all the dancers gathered so it was great, and we saw the contestants come up the stairs to be interviewed by Claudia. I did do my daily sketch before the show started and the lovely lady who was in charge of monitoring our section signed it. She told up lots of things about the show and let us go and look in the area where the stars and judges were interviewed.
We loved where we sat, we were so close to all the stars. I caught Aljaz’s eye and he came to talk to be, even asked the staff member sitting next to me to change places. That was just amazing, the icing on the cake. The dancing was brilliant and of course we don’t need to watch the result show!
In the interval water and biscuits were handed out to everyone, the water cartons looked like milk cartons!
We didn’t leave until eleven, and one last photo!
Almost forgot the selfie!
Rain and wind on the way home but Nya drove thought like a star. Home very late, or should I say early. A hot drink, hello to Aurora and bed!
Anya brought me over to the hotel this morning and Darren and I had a lovely visit with my sister and also delivered cakes to Rachel and Rose. Off to see Mike this evening..
Your journey down here could have been worse, but a twenty minute delay was a good outcome all things considered. It was nice that Isobel met you at the station for a change, that’s nice 🙂
ReplyDeleteAgain you were lucky to get a good run into London with any major hold ups. The gods were looking down on you 🙂 It looks very gloomy in that queue and I spot several umbrellas ☔️ Definitely not somewhere you want to be standing for too long. Sounds like they are very organised once you got in. Just storing everyone’s phones and watches is a bit of a nightmare, but saves them going off during the recording. Nice that you got such good seats too. I wasn’t sure if you’d get a sketch done that day, but you’ve got a special one there and signed too 🙂 Chatting to the stars too. It really does sound like a great trip out. A very long day though, but looking at the pic by the BBC sign you really enjoyed it.
Not such a busy day for you today, but still a nice one visiting everyone. I’m looking forward to our meal 🙂
A lovely weekend as some good catch up visits today including a very nice meal this evening. Relaxing back in the hotel now and won’t be late in bed tonight.
