Lovely trip out, but back with more plants!

Sher came to call for me at ten to take me to Stag nursery but she hadn’t had breakfast so we went to Heron Lakes where there is a new Italian restaurant. We sat inside but by the window so could see the lake. Nice view and very nice food.
We then went to Skirlaugh garden centre to have a look in the antique store there. Sher wanted to get some Hornsea Pottery to plant up and sell in her shop. Had cake and coffee there before setting off to the nursery. She had been there before and it is very good and reasonably priced. So you won be surprised to know that quite a few plants came home with me.b
Talking of flowers I have tried a few times to get Californian poppies to take, have managed a couple and they are so pretty.
Tina and I sat in the garden for a while and the I went out with the lopper tool to trim the lower branches of the copper beech. Tina did come out and do some that I couldn’t reach.
After tea I went out and cleared way all the branches, much harder than I expected because the knee keep threatening to give out and there was a lot of stooping involved. I had planned to get all the plants in tonight but after getting nine into the front garden my body was saying no more, so I listened for a change! Didn’t do watering either so hoping the good hosing yesterday will keep everything going until tomorrow.
A last pic of a white foxglove.

  1. That looks a beautiful place to have your breakfast, I really envy you. Great start to the day. Cake and coffee too, you devil 😊
I’m not at all surprised you came home with plants, I’m just amazed you didn’t buy any bulbs 😄
Yellow poppies really don’t seem right to me. They look nice, but I’d draw the line at calling them poppies.
Sitting in the garden with the Rev was a great idea, but you always feel the need to do something practical. Most elderly ladies, specially those with bad knees potter gently in a greenhouse, and you lop trees! There’s no hope for you 😂 Sounds like you should have sent the man of the house out to clear the branches off the lawn. Job sharing and all that.
At least you listened to the body a packed up. I’m sure you’ll be back at it tomorrow though.
Fingers crossed you get some light rain during the night, but don’t hold your breath!

  2. Yes, it was lovely place to have breakfast and a lovely day weather wise to boot.
My rain dancing hasn’t been very successful so far, but you never know!
