We were all up early to check on the grand prix, not so interesting for me as I am a Lewis fan rather than an avid motor racing one, and he was starting from the back! Before 8 am Darren and I went off to see if the boot sale was on, we had the race on in the car. The sale wasn't on due to waterlogged fields so we drove off towards Whitby to see if that one was on. It wasn't, but it was a beautiful morning and a lovely drive over the moors. We stopped at a cafe called The Flask. Old fashioned, waitress served and big teapots with fab cosies!! We had our sausage sandwiches there.
The view from the cafe was good and interestingly there were bus stops right outside so I could make my way there myself.
Darren dropped me off in town on the way back, as I wanted to get some cash as the spider in a bottle was calling me!! Wandered down Bar Street and had a look at the south bay.
Went off to the emporium and am now a proud owner of a black widow spider in a scent bottle. The bottle is only about four inches tall, so not a big item.
Tina was home after 1 pm so we decided to go for their anniversary meal at lunch time rather than in the evening. We went to Scalby Manor where they do a carvery service. Had an enjoyable large lunch and feel over full now! Some months ago I bought a foot stool at the charity shop near the ceramic studio.
The webbing underneath the cushion is weak so Mike made me a wooden board to fit and I am going to make a patchwork cover to replace the one on there. Not that I don't like it, just on a quilting roll at the moment! Tina helped me make a triangle template last night as I had a book with a quilt using the triangles and wanted to give it a try. I got them cut out in three different fabrics.
I have now sewn them together, but may leave finishing it off until another day.

  1. The weather looks nice and the views are lovely. Will have to remember that cafe for one of my visits.
The spider looks great, and very you! Glad to decided to get it, you just had to really. I hope the cat doesn't take a liking to it :-)
I think the new stool top will look good in those materials, very crafty fabrics.

  2. Yes, the cafe is one for the list I think, it was a lovely drive on the moors and will be more colourful in a month or two. I knew I wanted the spider as soon as I saw the photo of it some weeks ago. May do a bit more to the foot stool this evening.
