Darren's birthday today. I did take pictures of him with presents and more pictures when I had a walk along the Marine Drive. The memory card died, so those photos are not to be seen!! Darren and I set off to the boot sale, but that didn't happen for some reason! We saw some of the parking workers hanging around, but the gates were locked! When Tina got back from church at lunch time we went out for Darren's birthday dinner. He didn't know that we had decided to go to Mcdonalds as that is his favourite meal.
After a nice lunch, including dessert, we came home via Irton Garden Centre. The had some little miniature stuff to make small fairy gardens, Tina had seen them the other day. They are quite expensive, but something I will think about doing at some point as they were very cute. Darren wouldn't have his picture taken with the gorilla outside, so guess who did!
Some lovely flower displays, although the sun went it when I took this one so they were brighter a few minutes before...
They had lots of garden water features, a lot are solar powered now which is good. I liked these as I hadn't seen any like them before.
I have taken a picture of the large driftwood horse before, but do like it so took another.
When we got home I spent an hour or so in the front garden, it needed hoeing, the lawn needed a trim and I had a few plants to put in. Not the best garden in the world, but those of you that saw what it was like when we moved in will know it is a vast improvement.
I bought a yellow flower with dark leaves a while ago, and it has been left alone by the slugs in the back garden as looks absolutely gorgeous now.
Finally for today, the cake cutting moment, this one taste okay!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DARREN!
ReplyDeleteIs that the garden centre we went to after one of our trips to Snainton? I vaguely remember the driftwood horse, and taking lots of close ups of insects on the flowers. You know what my memory is like.
The front garden looks really nice now, and I do remember what it looked like when you moved in. It was bloody rough! Love the yellow flower in the back garden too, but it's not like you not to be able to remember the name of it.
Bet Darren enjoyed his cake, and bet there won't be any left for tomorrow :-)
You never know, there may be! I don't remember us going to Irton Garden Centre, but maybe, if you remember the horse then we must have! May have to look the plant up now......
