It was a glowing sunset again last night, but they are more dramatic when there is some cloud.
I planted an ornamental poppy last year and as it was a mild winter it didn't die off, so has already flowered.
I got some sketching stuff together and made a flask and decided to take a walk into the glen. I also took some bird seed. The glen in spring is bursting into life.
I stopped for a sit down at a bench on the way up to the cemetery and was delighted when this thrush came for some seed!
A shot walking up towards the bridge.
This squirrel was enjoying the bird seed!
The robin waited in the wings!
Took a slightly different route in the cemetery and loved this tree archway!
There was also this turn style type gate.
I did try sketching the trees but will add it at the end so it is not too close to the real thing! Tina and I got home at about the same time and as it was such a lovely day she suggested we had lunch at The Mere and enjoyed the sunshine. We were both fascinated by this horse chestnut tree that was sprouting out the side of the trunk.
We saw this very unusual female mallard duck , she was so much lighter than they are generally.
I will finish off with the two sketches I did today.
Some really nice pics there. I like the wildlife ones, in particular the thrush. A very nice walk by the looks of it, and nice weather too. Such nice places, the park and the mere. Don't think you'll ever get tired of taking pictures and doing sketches of them.
ReplyDeleteNice poppy. Very reminiscent of your old garden down south.
I particularly like the thrush too, haven't seen one in a while. You are right, it is always a lovely walk and always something a bit different.
ReplyDeleteExcellent photos and sketches. Spring is my best time of year, so pretty. All the bluebells small and look terrific.
ReplyDeleteThere were a few bluebells in the glen but nothing like near you. xx
