You would never have thought it looking at our platform this morning! We got of the train at Kew Bridge and hd another reasonable walk to get to Kew Gardens. Took some photos, many don’t need comment but I will if I think it is necessary.
The water lily house was wonderful.
I have never seen, or Van thought about an ebony tree, very narrow trunk.
Just a silly selfie!
There were several of these statues, I took one more then Judi said I mast have one taken with Scooydoo!
The next photo is of the Marianne North museum. It was incredible inside with over 1;000 paintings from places all over the world. No photography was allowed but the wall were covered wall to ceiling with her paintings. She travelled all over the world and this was in the 1800s, an amazing later and great paintings. There were a couple of books which I may throw some hints for at some point! I did buy three postcards, my add them to the blog tomorrow.
She paid for the building herself and gifted the paintings to Kew.
We had a rest sitting there..
Judi wasn’t keen to have her photo taken!
Adding the sign on that one for you Mike!
We got a bus and then a train back, ending up at a scarily busy Waterloo station in rush hour! I was shattered when we got home and managed over 19,000 steps today.
Have had tea so will do the second entry and relax for the rest of the evening. My train will be cancelled tomorrow but I have checked in advance this time and there is an alternative train. I will buy it on the day and have the receipt to apply for refunds.
The first thing I thought when I saw the first pic was how different it was then compared to how you said it was coming home.
ReplyDeleteSome great pics this evening. Very nice to look through them. The colours are lovely. And I thought your garden was hard enough to look after. I’d love to see the pile of weeds they get after a bit of TLC! I’m guessing a lot. I like your top. Perfect for the setting.
I’m in total awe of the place. I never realised there was so much there. I’d love to see all that.
The chap who built the gigantic wooden bench was at the weird and wonderful wood show we went to a couple of weeks ago. He had some great stuff there too.
Not surprised you were shattered by the time you got back, but I’d say it was well worth it.
You’re not having much luck with trains. But it’s not quite so crucial going home. Your time there seems to have gone too quickly ☹️
It is a wonderful place, it was probably over fifty years ago when I went so good to get there again, and I had particularly anted to see inside the Marianne North house and was disappointed I couldn’t take pictures. Judi reckons I have only seen about a quarter of it so will have to return to see some more!
ReplyDeleteI was nice for my summer jacket to have its first outing there.
