I still love that bridge!

This morning I visited Bel, who is still very bruised and has a dressing over the stitches on her forehead but is quite like her usual self lthough she is using a stick indoors now. She was ninety three yesterday so has done well to recover so quickly.
Back home I cleaned the bird baths and did some tidying and finished packing for our little getaway. We left at about two and stopped t a Hobbycraft on the way. Lots of offers and Tina got quite a few more candle moulds and I got a pint your own coaster set! The idea was I might do a bit here, but maybe I will and maybe I won’t.

Our rooms are in a converted garage, not in the house where the nuns live. Lovely gardens and a good conversion, we each have a bedroom and there is sitting are and a kitchen and bathroom, it is just for two people so we have a little home from home.
We had afternoon tea with the nuns, who are delightful, and they were thrilled that I had lived in Peterborough and more so when I lived in Welland as one of their previous houses had been on Welland too! The we went to a service and set off to walk to the foreshore. About a fifteen or twenty minute walk nd then we walked along for a while and came back through the country park. Brace yourself for photos, I will add the odd explanation if necessary. It was very windy.
I spotted some drink bottles down on the shore so went down to collect them and take them to a bin. Despite being annoyed that people leave them I had to smile at this one that had a ‘message in a bottle’ warning  don’t drink’
I managed to blur this one!
But Tina didn’t!
You can see how windy it was a my erring is horizontal, not to mention the hair!
I really like that one.
There was a notice saying the mill will be open tomorrow, so maybe we will go again.
We had a rest on the way up so a view looking down!
One last one on the walk back.
We went into Hessle ( in the car, we had done enough walking!) and had a meal at a Greek restaurant which was delicious.
We are weary now, but in a good way.

  1. Glad to hear that Bel is recovering well. She’s definitely a trooper to be getting over the fall so quickly, specially at her age. I’ll be a crotchety old bugger…….I know you’re thinking I am already!😊
The coasters look nice. I’ll look forward to seeing the finished articles. The accommodation looks lovely. Plenty big enough for a short stay. Slightly smaller than you are both accustomed to though. Nice gardens too.
The nun aren’t anything to do with the nuns we knew that lived on Welland are they? That would be a coincidence.
I’ve not looked at the rest of the pics yet, but I’m betting there are several of a certain bridge 😊
Well I was right, virtually every pic has the bridge in 😂 It is a lovely bridge though, even when it’s blurred. Judging by the pic of you two smiling, you enjoyed being near it. You can’t help but admire it though. It’s a beautiful bridge.
Your silhouettes are quite funky too.
I think there’s definitely a good chance you’ll be back there tomorrow.
I remember those steps very well. You know when you’ve climbed them all! You should both sleep well tonight. It’s a long hard climb up there. I think I’d be more than weary by the time I’d climbed them all! 😊
You’re easily pleased. A big bridge and a camera and you’re sorted 😊

  2. It seems like we have been away much longer that eight hours or so. Think we managed to pack a fair bit into the time.
There is rain forecast for tomorrow so we thought we should get down to the foreshore this afternoon/evening. But we do keep missing the rain so we may have a dry day yet.
Three of the nuns I met today had lived on the Welland so a good chance they were the ones we used to see.
I will endeavour to have less bridge pics tomorrow if we head that way again!
