Judy walked quite a way with me as we headed towards Tate Britain, which I found out was about three miles. So some pics as we went along the embankment.
After Judi went off on her errand I came across this memorial wall which stretched the whole length between two bridges.
Just had to snap the telephone kiosk.
The view from Lambeth bridge.
Then I arrived at The Tate.
I will now post the photos that don’t have information with them!
That one was a Turner.
Some modern stuff there too.
Love those seats!
A couple as I walked back.
Well three actually!
When there was just under a mile to go I had to leave the embankment and couldn’t remember the way so the phone was used for Google maps and when that wasn’t helpful I asked several people along the way. I did make it back which was good!
I will do the second post after we have had dinner.
Two entries in one day, that has to be a first. I’ll definitely have a look at the second as I’m sure it’ll be interesting.
ReplyDeleteThat’s an old Suffolk latch on the doors. Mainly used on gates now, but in ye olden days it was a common fitting on internal doors.
Lots of pics in this first entry!
Seeing the pic of the London Eye reminded me of when I went on it, if I recall right it was with you. Some great views from the top. I like the pic from below the bridge of Big Ben. Such an iconic building. You can’t fail to know you’re in London. I wonder how many pics have been taken of that over the years by foreign tourists?
I take it those hearts are stickers. I certainly wouldn’t want the job of painting them on. Actually zooming in it doesn’t look as if they are!
The phone box is great. I wonder if it’s a working box still?
At least you went to a proper art gallery today 🙂 You can actually tell what things are without having to look from every possible angle only to discover it’s an unmade bed by Tracey Emin. Hope you’re impressed at my artistic knowledge 😂🤣
I like the seats in the shape of buildings too. A novel idea.
What would we do without Google these days? Those maps are handy….most of the time. Good old fashioned asking people usually works too. At least you got back. A nice trip out, and so much better than gardening 😊
Look forward to seeing more later.
I was a good day, I have eaten and showered so will be doing the second post soon.
ReplyDeleteThey were painted hearts, lots with messages writing on them, some very sad, and lots still not touched. I didn’t know there was such a thing, I m sure a lot of other people don’t know of it’s existence.
Walking along the embankment you see lots of buildings you recognise, and I m sure there a thousands of pics of London lnemrks ll round the world.
