Jab and pottery

This morning I had an appointment before nine at the surgery to get my RSV vaccination. I walked to the surgery, was a bit early and was seen promptly.I walked home and Tina gave me a lift up to the pottery as she wanted to do some shopping. I started of filling paint pots but when Darren arrived to finish his painting I stopped to finish mine. I had started a ‘flower sheep’ and foolishly decided to make it a black sheep. Not the best decision I have made! It is now finished as was Darren’s dragon,  aubergine a picture of his when we collect them.
I did some washing up and then Caroline asked me to paint a couple of pieces as brush holders. Both were bases where the tops had been broken. I forgot to take pictures so will have to wait until they are fired now. I did a bit of shopping while I was at Freeport and didn’t walk home until getting on for three. The wind was really getting up by then.
Have done a bit of jigsaw and the puzzles sent by Mike. I managed to get the perpetual calendar on the right date, took a long time, so it will be staying on that date until the next December 31st!
I have taken a photo of my ‘winnings’ at the arcade and a couple of shells and a piece of rock from the beach,
Another plant for the sketch today.
Happy New Year!

Sunrise and fun on the beach

This morning I opened the curtains at 7.40 am, lovely sky so I threw on some clothes and made my way to the sea front. Took some photos on the way and rather too many while I was there. I have deleted a lot!
I came home and was cold, made a drink and promptly threw the whole mug full on the carpet! Got a message from Anya and went to meet them at the cafe where they were having breakfast. Then we called indoors and Darren joined us to walk down to the front. Aurora had been on the lead previously on the beach, but when we went into quite a secure area with a family with a couple of dogs she was off the lead for a while and had a lovely play.
We had a snack in the hub cafe and then popped in to the arcade where Isobel tried again to ‘grab’ a soft toy gull, without success.
Then we came to the house for a while and Mikes puzzles were in play!
When the family set off for home Darren drove me up to the care home where I visited Lesley for a couple of hours. It was dark when I set off to walk home and I took this photo of the sky.
No sketch yet but I will draw something before I go to bed!

Full day and plenty more steps

I set off reasonably early for a walk, a lovely morning today with the fog gone. I walk to the front and along to the north beach and did a sketch.
I got a message from Anya saying they were setting off and would meet me at the hub cafe. I had just finished the sketch so headed back along the front. Just Anya and Louis came so after a snack they went back for Isobel and I walked home to check the meet in the slow cooker. They collected Isobel and came to pick me up to drive to Morrow Avenue and walk on the beach from there. We spent quite a time meandering, Isobel was looking for sea glass.
The cloud had built up quite a bit by the time we were ready to leave and that changes the look of the sea.
Then Darren joined us and we went to the garden centre, Anya and family wanted to look at the Christmas stuff sale. We had coffee and cake and a good wander round the sale.
When we got back I starting getting the roast dinner ready. Tina had got us all delightful little jigsaws with unusual shaped pieces, we all did them after the meal. Mine was a lovely Angel.
Then we played a couple of games. It was getting on for nine when the family went back to the apartment. Clearing away and blog done and I will soon be heading for bed.

Walking and painting

Anya and family were up a bit later so I went for a walk before meeting up with them. I went on the trail and through the community orchard. I had even done my sketch before I met the at the cafe next door to where they are staying.
Will add the sketch in a bit, haven’t uploaded it yet and can’t move as the cat is on my lap!
After they had breakfast at the cafe we arranged to meet Darren and Tina at the pottery. We all did some painting and Anya took some photos.
When we finished we all did some shopping then I came home with Tina and we got on with lunch while the family went to feed the dog.
After lunch I took Anya and family to Sher’s shops which they enjoyed looking round, then we made our way yo the sea front, it was dark and the tide in so no going on the beach.
We spent quite a while enjoying wasting money in the arcade.
We got some frozen meal deals on the way home and I got dinner with with Anya.
The family went back to their holiday home a while ago and I am shattered. A lot of walking and I was up at 6.30!
Will go and find the sketch and will finish with it.

Cooking and company

I was up fairly early and decided to make an apple crumble before going to see Bel. Then Bel phoned to say she didn’t want me going out in the fog. She didn’t sound too good and I think that was easier than saying she didn’t want to see me. Anyway I then decided to carry on baking and made some mince pies as Anya and family were coming up for the weekend.
It is a very big crumble!
After clearing away I went out for a walk. Much mistier than yesterday and quite chilly. I walked along the front hoping for inspiration.
I did, eventually.
My legs really didn’t want to be walking today, wanting to find something to sketch spurred me on.
I pottered and sat with the cat this afternoon as I knew the family were bringing the dog. They arrived at about 4.30pm and after a chat and cuppa and cats disappearing upstairs we went down to collect fish and chips. We exchanged presents and then the family went to settle in their weekend accommodation. I do now have Pandora back on my lap, having trouble to get her to settle to eat, but she will hardly fade away any time soon and I am happy she has settled on my lap.
Tomorrow we will probably go to the pottery.

A couple of walks

This morning I fancied going for a walk even though it was quite murky out, a very different day from yesterday. Tina came out with me today which was nice. We drove to the front and she parked at the end that I never go to so some different subjects for the sketch book. We walked a fair way along the front, some of it on the beach and some on the promenade.
And Tina said don’t miss the Christmas tree!
Sat with the cat for a while when ai got back, then after lunch I walked back down the the front and to the far end to do my sketch. Lots of people put this morning and this afternoon, folk having their Boxing Day walk despite the weather.
There was a bit of a web on this dead plant in the front garden, I quite like dead seed heads.
Yesterday evening I did manage to do one of the simpler puzzles, getting six shapes into a tray. I should explain that Mike make all the puzzles for me on his 3D printer. But I didn’t manage making them into a cube, which apparently you could. Tried again when.I got home and did the cube as well, eventually! May have another go at one of the other puzzles now!
I have a box of acrylic paints that I haven’t used, never really have used acrylics, but though I would try a quick go at the poinsettia on a canvas I got a couple of weeks ago. Didn’t draw it first, just straight in with the brush and the colours are a bit on the vivid side!
We are going to watch the Festive Throw Down this evening.
