Yesterday evening I started cutting strips of material as I had seen a picture of a quilted 'web' effect and was keen to have a go, using only small pieces of fabric good for making use of left of scraps as well. This morning Tina dropped me off at the dentist, as I broke a piece off a tooth of Saturday (was only eating chicken and rice!). I have a check up at the end of the month and was hoping to bring it forward and get the tooth fixed at the same time. My appointment now is a day later!! It is not hurting and they are very busy, so she has made a new longer appointment so that the tooth can be seen to at the same time as the check-up. I just have to hope that it doesn't completely fall apart before then. I cut through Scarboroughs Trafalgar Square, looking very green and attractive.
I went into town, wasn't planning to as my ankle was sore, but was trying to find a hairdressers and they all seem to be closed on a Monday. Found one open in town and made an appointment, probably seven weeks since my last cut, my regular hairdresser is on maternity leave, and she is a one man band. These lovely flowers are on the wall of the house next door!
Back home I started preparing for the cushion cover, strips all sewn together.
Then seeing if the pattern pieces I had made all had a big enough row of strips.
Then, rather sadly I had to go out, Sandy collected me as I was helping with a party at the studio. Ten very noisy boys and nearly as many adults, wasn't sorry when it had finished! Got back home and got the border on the pattern.
Then sorted out some material for the back and got the quilting done on this part. I bought some metalic thread that can be used on a machine and bought some special machine needles. I really am very pleased with the finished cushion cover.
Got to clear up chaos again now!!
At least you managed to get a dental appointment. I wad reading something earlier that said a lot of people can't even get in at a dentist, let alone get and appointment. No wonder dentists ride around in big flash cars :-)
ReplyDeleteThe cushion looks great, and you obviously really enjoyed making it, which is always a bonus. It's horrid when you have to go out and leave something you're enjoying doing, but nice when you get back to it. Specially after suffering ten noisy kids!
It was fun to make, and as with a lot of things I made it up as I went along.
