Still struggling with the ankle so Tina dropped me near town at about 9.30 am. How quiet the busy seaside town of Scarborough is early on a Sunday morning!
I was going to Debenhams as they have triple points on offer, but when I went into the Brunswick Centre found they didn't open until 10.30 am. Went and had a coffee and walked to the bus stop to check the times for coming home. No buses run on the route I catch on a Sunday, so looks like walking home, which is a pity. Got my moisturiser when they opened and a new handbag, as mine is beginning to come apart at the seams. Took my time walking home and had a rest before going down to cook dinner for Tina and I. But before that I thought I would make some rock cakes (as you know, sponges are definitely off the menu while I live here). When Tina and I were out yesterday I bought this little cookery book. Marked a one shilling, it cost me £5! But I used the recipe in there.
Didn't take a photo of the rock cakes and not going down again as stairs really hurt! But they turned out well and I am going to try some more of these very old a very basic recipes. One of the alliums in the garden is almost open.
As is this double headed tulip.
This antirrhinum survived the lack of a harsh winter and is looking good.
A very lazy afternoon watching the French open with Andy Murray. Shame he didn't win but I am sure his time will come. The last Wallander tonight so I am looking forward to that. Tina said that I can take twice as many paracetamol than I have, so upping the pills and hoping for the best!!
That's what Peterborough looks like some mornings when I'm walking, deserted! It nice when it's like that though, and so much better than tripping over the idiots who think the pavements totally belong to them!
ReplyDeleteI've got an old BeRo cookbook somewhere. I'll have to dig it out and look at the recipes. Not that I eat many cakes these days.
The plants are all looking good.
It was strange in town, because the holiday season has sort of started now and it is a busy little town. I am going to try a couple more recipes and try not to eat too much of the results myself!!
