Spent an this morning trying to find a decent picture of St Mary's as I wanted to get started on a plate as a present for Martyn, the vicar there, as he is retiring in a few weeks. I found one eventually and enjoyed going photos from pretty much since I moved here! Tina dropped me off in town when she was heading out as we needed some laundry items and Tina also needed her parking permit updated. Got that sorted and then decided to have a cup of tea in a restaurant almost opposite the town hall called Greensmith and Thackwray. I absolutely loved the tables in there, a bit like my my web quilted cushion cover, but in wood!
When the tea came it was complete with a timer, which I have never seen before.
I got the shopping and then went to the studio. Used one of the liners today, so am improving with them a bit. Here is the church outlined.
Then the writing done, again with the liner.
Actually, I see I had only pencilled it in on that photo. Then painted, fairly understated but it will be brighter when fired.
Walking back I passed these beautiful irises.
I have been thinking for a while that I needed to clean out the sewing machine as I have used it an awful lot. This was what I got out, so this job was definitely overdue!
Several people have admired the book bag I made and have said they would like one. I think that is partly due to the materials I used, triangles left over from one of the quilts. I have been sewing them together and will keep going and then see how many I can make.
That's a great table top, and as you say, very quilt like. Great idea having a timer with the tea too. I'll add that place to my list. Just looked and can't find my list, damn.
ReplyDeleteThe plate is looking really nice. I hope the vicar doesn't read the blog, or it'll spoil the surprise :-)
That's a lot of fluff out of the machine, disgraceful! Not quite the same I know, but my lathe is full of sawdust where I "forget" to clean it out too. That sewing machine has done a few miles of stitching, you'll be due a new one before long. Save the book bags for Christmas, they'll make great pressies.
I knew you would like the table, a little project for you for a change! I am hopeful the plate will be good, was pleased not to have made any obvious mistakes! Sandy said I could make her bag for her next birthday rather than flowers!
