Well, I did finish the sky and butterfly hanging by lunch time, but as I started about 9 am it wasn't a quick fix. For some reason I just could not get the binding right when I was finishing it. Must have unpicked it ten times, then Tina came up and it was wrong a couple more times!! Had a quick break, then went back and got it right. Why I struggled so much I have no idea, must have done it at least ten times before. Anyway, hand sewed it in place at the back, did a little embroidery and it is complete.
Tina had been out for a meeting and when she got back asked it I would like to go and feed the ducks/geese with the bread from downstairs. So we cut it all up and went to the Mere. A swan joined the geese and ducks and was really aggressive, having a set to with a Canada goose here!
This swan had real attitude and was not to be messed with!

When the bread was gone a family of geese came over with almost grown young, so Tina went to buy some bird food at the cafe. This is one of the young patiently waiting.
We hung on to some of the food as we spotted a swan with cygnets.

That was a very pleasant visit, Tina dropped me off at the studio on our way back to see if the butter dish was ready to collect. It was, and I am pleased with it, but will have to engrave a bit deeper next time.
Sandy gave me a lift home, so very little walking today, which is good as the ankle is pretty sore. A picture of the poppy out front when not so windblown.
Off to Peterborough for the weekend so tidying up and sorting packing.

  1. The hanging looks great, so definitely worth a few false starts. Do you have a spare bit of wall earmarked for it?
Those birds at the mere are so spoiled! They must get loads of bread and seed. Nice weather for a visit there from the looks of the pics. Sausage baps for the feeders?
Really like the butter dish too. It's a job from the pics to see the engraved bits, but I'm guessing they shrunk a bit in the kiln.
    Be seeing you tomorrow.

  2. Yes, we had sausage baps. The engraving doesn't really show that much, perhaps more on the base, but I will have another try and do it deeper. Yes, see you tomorrow.
