Darren set off for his weekend away just after 9 am, and about 10 am or so Tina and I went out for a drive and ended up in Pickering. The weather was lovely and the views along the way gorgeous. After the much needed rain everywhere was so much more green and fresh looking. Although I was still hobbling a bit with the ankle, then when that settle the knee on the other leg, we had a lovely wander round and visited a couple of great craft and antique centres.Took a sneaky photo of this draughts set as I fancy having a go at making one, just need someone to supply with with a good piece of tree trunk!(Already sawn to size, obviously!)
Only took one other photo as we were walking back to the car, just so I had one of Pickering really.
We had a good look round Lidl, as there isn't one in Scarborough, and bought a few bits, then headed home. Have been doing a bit of clearing up this afternoon and getting ready to do a boot sale with Darren in a few weeks. Also had a letter for me to phone and make a physio appointment, which I have done, about four weeks time. The Californian poppies that I planted up in the galvanised planter have survived the winds and are looking lovely.
Better get back to sorting.

  1. Sounds like a pleasant trip out. Love the draughts set. Getting a thin slice of trunk like that isn't simple. It would have to be perfectly dried out before it was cut or it would twist and split as it dried. I'll keep a look out for something though.
    Hope the sorting goes ok
