Great sky last night, it kept changing, at it's most spectacular like this.
Then it settled like this before it began to get dark.
This morning I continued to rest the leg and take it easy. Had a delivery of shopping at lunch time and then took a gentle walk to the studio. I had a chat with Sandy and a cup of tea then took another stroll home via the cliff top. The light was wonderful, like a iridescent glow along the horizon. Don't think the photos really show it up.
That was looking towards the Sea Life centre, the next one towards the castle.
Then one looking straight out to the sea.
As I got home I thought how pretty the daffodils are looking in the front garden now. Definitely like Spring!
The ankle is feeling a lot better so hopefully will get out for longer tomorrow. Do have to go for my follow up blood pressure check.

I rested my leg yesterday and was in bed very early for me. The ankle was still swollen and sore this morning so made a chiropractor appointment for today. Tina took me into town to save the incline walk which pulls at the ankle. Andrew, the chiropractor is really lovely, checked my foot out and said that it is just inflamed and I haven't done any real damage. He has bound me up with take and I have to rest up for a bit and then start the exercises again gradually after a couple of days.
This strapping should stay on for a few days and I can still shower. In town this lady has an unenviable job, there was a giving up smoking stand in town!
Must be spring, a man with stilts was about town!
Darren and I both have coughs at the moment so I got us some medication and made my way home. since then I have watched a Taggart, done a heat treatment on the ankle and then sorted through some paperwork. Another evening sky!

Not a lot to write about today. My knee and ankle were aching after yesterday's hanging about and I waited to hear from Carolyn before going out. She wasn't feeling on top form and said she would go home today. We met up about 10 am and then wandered around, made a couple of refreshment stops and then went to the station, her train was just before 1 pm. I took a slow walk home and have sat with my feet up watching a Taggart this afternoon. They are over two hours and I did have the cat for company for some of the time. I have always loved asparagus ferns and had a small on when I moved here. I re-potted it last year and it seems to love the light on the landing.
The coffee plants I bought a month or so ago seem to like it out there too!
Like I said, not a lot to say today, lovely sky this afternoon.

Last night I started cleaning the butter knives, they are coming up quite well.
My friend from years ago is staying at the Travel Lodge for a couple of nights. I went up there this morning to meet her. The south bay looked cold but it didn't stop the surfers, they must be made of strong stuff. You cannot make them out in the picture, but trust me, they were there!
There is a lovely cafe at the top of the disused cliff lift and now I see there looks like another one at the bottom. Such a good use of an old feature.
We caught the open top bus along to the north bay and had a walk in the park and the glen, then made our way back to the house for a hot drink. the wind was bitter and Carolyn isn't used to it. Then we looked up bus times and decided to take a short trip to Whitby. It is an hour on the bus but so lovely across the moors, and exciting going down the steep hill to Robin Hood's Bay. It was equally cold in Whitby but we had some lunch and had a walk round the quaint shops, I had told her that nearly every other shop sold Whitby jet! Saw this Morris dancer making his way home.
Then took a shot of Whitby on the way back to the bus stop.
We waited at the bus stop for an hour, as one had broken down, we were very cold and I was pretty achy by the time we did get onto a bus! Back in Scarborough I made sure that Carolyn could find her way back to the hotel and made my weary way home!

A quieter day today, but will tell you about the lots I won yesterday and also an update on one of them! I loved the little sewing machine, it came with quite a few other items.
A bit of cleaning and polishing to do but the machine itself is in great condition, It is very small.
It comes with accessories and I am pretty sure it will work, probably with a chain stitch. I also purchased a meat carving set, a silver napkin ring and a tiny marcasite brooch.
A close up of the brooch, it is very sweet and a lovely reminder of the day.
The update is that I have had a couple of calls from Hansons today asking if I would sell the napkin ring back to them as the lady who owned it was unaware that it had been put in the sale and she was very attached to it. I have returned it and they will reimburse my payment and the postage. A friend, Carolyn, is coming up today, we worked together at the hostel for the homeless over ten years ago. We haven't seen each other for about 8 years. She wasn't arriving at the station until 3.30 pm so I went up to the studio this morning and collected my ruby slipper plate.
Need to think of a new theme now! I met Carolyn, we got her booked in at the hotel and then had a wander around, having a coffee down on the south bay. We got something for dinner and had it back here, Carolyn has gone now but I will call for her in the morning. A bit of Sport Relief tonight.

Where to start, what a wonderful 'pre birthday treat'! The hotel was great and we had a lovely evening meal. I had taken my swimming costume but forgot my goggles, which is a serious problem for me as I cannot swim with my head out of the water! Darren was going to the gym, so walked down with him and they had goggles to buy at a very reasonable price. I was the only one in the pool, and it was a fair size, the length was a bit more than a width of a normal pool I think. I swam for twenty minutes or so, haven't been in a while and I really enjoyed it, went in the hot tub for a short while afterwards. This morning we had a very good breakfast at the hotel before packing up and getting ready to leave for the auction. The inside of the hotel was really lovely so I wanted to get a couple of pictures. There was a gallery around the outside and you could look down. Had to get a picture of Darren in, (sorry Darren), you are quite shaded!
Then the rather spectacular view.
We made our way to Hansons and I registered to get a bidding number. I could see Charles and the lady at reception said it was fine to go and talk to him. So I did! When I told him it was a special treat and we had come from Scarborough he went and found a picture of himself and signed it on the back, then Darren took a photo of us.
Well, that was me on cloud nine for the rest of the day! A young lady called Izzy started the auction, but Charles took over and was on the rostrum for about two hours. The Bargain Hunt items were dotted amongst the other lots and there was a lot of laughter and fun. I did bid and buy when he was taking the auction. He was a much fun to watch as he is on the television and is such a lovely man.
That was him in full swing! I did buy a few items, will take pics for tomorrow, the sale started at 10 am and we left at about 3.50 pm. A good journey home, I spotted this very odd cloud but couldn't get a very good shot at it, but this gives the idea.

This morning I put a load of washing through and generally pottered before Darren and I set off on our journey to Etwall near Derby. The weather was murky again in Scarborough but began to improve as we travelled along. I took a picture from the car, the hills in the distance were still misty but the sky was brightening.
We had lunch at a McDonald's on the way and we arrived at the auction house at about 3.30 pm. Took a picture of a poster with Charles on as we walked to the entrance, was quite excited to be there!
Had to have a photo outside the entrance, not exactly like Tim but in the same place!!
We spent ages looking around, it was a bit higgledy piggledy inside. Charles and another expert were filming, so did get to see him which was good. The sale has over 1000 lots and will go on into the evening, I fancied things quite high up so may have to bid on earlier stuff, although Darren doesn't mind if we are later. I have a form to fill in so that I can get my number in the morning. The hotel is only a few minutes away and very big and very nice. We have a balcony so poor Darren had to take another photo!
We will have dinner here and relax for the evening.
