This morning I decided to get the bug hotel put in the garden. It is a bit wonky but pretty secure!
I needed to go to the surgery to order my repeat prescriptions and noticed this stone wall, they are everywhere here but I liked the end pillars.I went into Dunkeld and had a drink and then walked back along the river path.I put the camera on night to photograph the inside of the Birnam oak, amazing it has a cavity this big and is now in leaf.I took an another narrow track and found another area with a beach.
A last photo of a Californian poppy.
Darren arrived before four and we had pizza from mobile pizza van. I have watered the garden and will now have a quiet evening.

I don’t think the bugs will mind their new hotel being a bit wonky. They’ll just be happy having a posh new residence to live in π It looks ok there.
ReplyDeleteI like the pillars on that wall too. Very unusual to be fully domed like that. A proper old Mason did that I bet.
I do envy you having that river path. I know it’s just another path, but being by the water like that is just special. I think everyone enjoys the closeness to water. Or is it just me romanticising? π
The Birnam oak is quite extraordinary to still be alive and in leaf with that much of its innards missing. As I keep saying, nature is a very clever thing.
I hope you manage to get the sycamore seedlings to bonsai. Nothing really lost though if they don’t. It would be nice if you could get a bonsai from the Birnam oak too.
Maybe the brick falling out the wall is gods way of telling you to stop gardening as nature is supporting everything! π
The garden is coming on. You’ll be bored when you only have to do a bit of hoeing.
Enjoy your weekend with Darren.
The river path is lovely, I haven’t really missed these as there are so many rivers, locks me waterfalls, plus the river this. Short walk away.i have always been drawn to the water so its nearness suits sme well.
ReplyDeleteI looked for acorns or seedlings near the Birnam oak but couldn’t see any, maybe I’ll find some acorns in the autumn. William, a retired vicar here has promised me a couple of oak seedlings as he found some when working at The Field. Tina’s cousin has given me a seedling monkey puzzle tree as well, so I will have a mine forest!
I won’t be now on!
