Busy Sunday part two

The walk up to the garden was short but quite steep in parts, as was the garden, which was more like a park and quite amazing. So lots more photos which speak for themselves.

We went and had tea and cake and then to look at the plants on sale. I bought a fabulous oak tree to bonsai, although when I was leaving a lady at the gate said she had gifted the tree to the owner and that she had been given it by a man that had grown it from a Birnam oak acorn! I will now be a nervous wreck in case I kill it!
We walked home and then went to the garden centre where I got a new ceramic pot for the tree.
I will finish with a photo of Darren who won this rather splendid sword in an archery competition. It is held for a year but he will have to return it when he moves up here permanently.

  1. Blimey that’s a garden and a half. Some beautiful plants in there. How many people work on it. It can’t be one person can it? You two would get on well together! I’m not into plants as you know. But I’m sitting here going ooh and ah as I look at the great colours. I would definitely have enjoyed looking at all that. Oh my, a Birnam oak bonsai. Now that’s definitely a challenge for you. It does look nice and healthy. You’ll have to order another six stands soon, if they get them back in stock.
I think the sword is a great prize. It’s just a shame he has to hand it back. He’s done really well at the archery. I hope he can continue with it up there. If not there are plenty of woods to go hunting in. Coming home with a couple of rabbits and a pheasant would be handy if you fancy pie making 😊
Definitely a great picture day today.

  2. It really is an amazing garden, huge with lots of different areas. When we talked to the owner she said she couldn’t do the heavy work nymore but still does cuttings etc. she has a lady that retired early and she keeps tne garden in good shape.
It really was a delight and some of the plants were very big.
I will endeavour to keep the oak tree growing…….☹️
