Walking and sketching

This morning I walked into Dunkeld as I needed some bits that I can’t buy in the village shop. Took a photo of the community orchard as I went by as the trees and getting blossom now. You don’t have to volunteer there to get apples when they are ready so that will be good.

I walked there the road way but came back along the riverside path.
The giant sycamore looks huge from the front, but I walked the lower path which went past the back. It is truly enormous, the base is several feet wide.
I followed a narrow path I haven’t been down before and loved the way the fallen trees become covered in moss and take on a new appearance.

I had walked along the are that has sand and thought it would be good to sketch. So after lunch I walked to the riverside again carrying a fold up stool and there were no benches or rocks good for sitting on as sadly I cannot just sit on the ground anymore. Well I suppose in theory I could but wouldn’t be able to get up!
Haven’t done much except usual household stuff. May right a letter in a bit, or do a bit of jigsaw.

  1. I foresee a lot of apple crumbles and pies in the future ๐Ÿ˜Š
I love that riverside path. It’s so nice to be able to walk along that when you’re just popping to the shops!
That is a big old tree. The base and the above ground roots are enormous. Nature is so good.
I’m with you. The moss on the fallen trees does look really nice. Again that’s nature reclaiming a bit more. I bet it’s really good around there for insects and bugs. You may have to take the big camera for some closeup stuff. Although you do get some goods ones with the phone.
Another nice sketch. I never tire of seeing those. The little fold up stool is a good idea. You’re not the only one that struggles to get up off the floor these days ๐Ÿ˜Š
Household stuff is boring compared to going out into the “wilds”๐Ÿ˜Š

  2. The riverside walk is good, I always used to go along the roads both ways, but will do one or both ways to Dunkeld that way from now on, although today I passed several groups of ten to twenty people along there so I imagine in the summer it will be pretty hectic!
Getting some apples later in the year will be good,I am actually eating more apples these days than I used to.
I find the landscape sketches more challenging, but practice makes perfect they say!
I imagine there will be lots of butterflies and other bugs in the coming months so maybe I will take the camera out.
