Gardening group and trees

I got the bee jigsaw out this morning and started finding some edge pieces before I went out to go to the Evergreen gardening group. It was held at a local sheltered complex, there were only five of us and the group organiser, I had met a couple of the ladies before. We had a chat, tea and biscuits and the cleared and repotted a large trough at the entrance of the complex. It was a pleasant time but the meetings will be spasmodic at the group leader has a new job and has to try and fit it into her diary. I will go along again. I brought a few plants left as there were a lot that we removed to put new ones in.

After lunch I walked into Dunkeld along the river with path. I had to collect my prescription. This fallen tree has new growth all around, nature really is amazing.

I cut through the community orchard to the bridge.

After getting some shopping, collecting my prescription and having a drink I had a senior moment and decided to go down these scary steps to ge to the river path.
Having gone down them realised that I was on the wrong side of the river and had to climb up them, which was even scarier!
I went through the orchard again, picnic tables in there which is nice and one of the black bunnies!

I pulled a couple of sapling trees which I think are beech, time will tell.
After a sit down nd a drink I went into the garden, got the few plants from yesterday and today planted.
Got the saplings into a flower pot and transferred the oaks into a bonsai dish. Pruned the roots but left the leaves for now,
Feet up and tv now and maybe a bit of jigsaw edge piece finding in a bit!

  1. You are keen with the jigsaws. Getting them started in the morning. That’s when you should be drinking English breakfast tea (assuming that’s allowed up there!) and eating warm buttered croissants.
The little group sounds like it should be something you can fit into your schedule. Tea, biscuits and a bit of repotting isn’t quite as demanding as your usual activities 😊
Nature is great, it soon starts to reclaim things. I was looking at some video of Chernobyl recently and nature is starting to reclaim all the abandoned buildings. We can build all this stuff, but nature is very powerful and always wins in the end. Slowly slowly catchy monkey, as they say 😊
I do like that community orchard. It’s such a good idea and I’m guessing it’s not abused there as I’m sure it would be here. I’m sure if we had one someone would be there with a trailer to nab the lot for a years supply of cider for themselves!
I’m sorry but I had to laugh when I read about the steps. It’s the sort of daft thing I’d do, so I’m glad I’m not alone 😂
You’ve started off a lot of bonsai since you’ve been there. You’ll need two more benches soon rather than one!
All in all that’s a very full day. Leave the jigsaw and keep your feet up 😊

  2. I almost wish I hadn’t started the bee puzzle, I am struggling getting the edge together and that’s the easier bit!
The group was relaxed and we did something useful so it was enjoyable.
Some of those steps were about a foot high, really not ideal for old achey joints!
Fingers crossed some of the saplings will take, I have started taking notes so that I can see how long they take to start growing, if they do.
Fingers crossed the cat stays asleep in her bed tonight as last night she spent mostly either on me or by my side! At least she wasn’t sitting on the jigsaw this evening…….
