I spent about an hour and a half in the garden this morning. Firstly I hoed all the areas I have already done as it is an on going battle with the ground elder and other weeds. Then I carried on from where I had finished, cutting the hedge back above the area and then digging it over and removing masses of roots. I haven’t finished the area, but have made a good start. I sat and read with the cat on my lap for a while when I got in before having lunch.
We got some of the charity shop stuff into the car and we drove to Aberfeldy where there is a thrift shop that is run by different organisations every week. Took a photo from the car on the way.
Sadly the thrift shop isn’t accepting donations at the moment but we went to the Co op to do a bit of shopping and there was a Salvation Army container there for clothes, so got rid of one bag! We decided to call in at Spirit of Wood as we were in Aberfeldy, took another hoot on the way there. It was a very narrow road up to the wood place so luckily we didn’t meet anyone coming away! What a fantastic place, such unusual pieces. I took some pics of a few.I was tempted and got a side table to go next to my new chair. It was marked as a stool but a fantastic table for me!
A couple more car pics on the way home.

I does sound as though you’re slowly getting on top of the garden. I know you still have a lot to do, but keeping the parts you’ve already done clear is a task in itself. At least when it’s all done, you’ll only have the single task of hoeing it all regularly. Not the easiest of jobs, but “easier” 😊
ReplyDeleteThe photo from the car on the way to the thrift shop looks a bit more gloomy than it’s been of late. It’s soon going to look like that here and the temperatures will plummet! Shame you couldn’t drop your stuff off, but at least you got rid of some. The wood place looks brilliant! I love the square glass topped table. Not much use in a first floor flat though as I’m guessing it’s damn heavy! Your stool/table is so unusual. I really like that. So you probably came back with more than you took 😊
A distillery that doesn’t put much whiskey in their truffles make them tight wads 🙂 I bet it was still nice though. You two do manage to find a lot of places to eat when you’re out. Normally dessert places I have to say. I never here you say, what a wonderful salad restaurant we found 😂
That does look quite a hard jigsaw to do, but it’s only 250 pieces. Should be a doddle for you two, or three if Darren is up there when you do it.
You are so hard on your drawings. The alliums look great to me!
Maybe Pandora will go back to Tina for a while later and give you another rest. You should put cat treat down the cushion of Tina’s chair, just for a bit of encouragement 😂
It ended up being an interesting day, the wood place hd lots of non work stuff too for the home and we saw a bench outside which would probably be good for bonsai trees, so I imagine we will call I again. I really love the side table and it really doesn’t take up a lot of room which is perfect.
ReplyDeleteWe have some blue sky t the moment but most of the day has been overcast.
The truffle was very nice and we had to try one.
I hadn’t really been going to try and draw the alliums but Tina presumed that was why I picked them so I decided I would have a go.
Pandora has gone into her basket now, may get up as I am going to bed!
