Getting to that daunting time again!

This morning Tina was making last minute calls and making sure she had left everything as in order as she could. It has been a stressful couple of weeks for her trying to make sure everything is in order. Once she had turned the computer off and Rosie hd the phone and everything else she needed I made a decent brunch before she set off on her long journey. She was detouring a bit to pick someone else up on the way. Pandora and sensed something was up but once we were on our own she settled down next to me and was blissfully sleeping.
Now to the heading, I thought I would gather ingredients for the Christmas cakes together, although obviously I still have marzipan and icing to get in a few months! I don’t think I forgot anything!
The oranges and lemons were from Rafters nd I ordered one of their £10 taster veggie boxes. Very good value but way too much for me at the moment.
I took some of it round to Jonathan who runs the cafe in the parish hall and he was happy that he could make use of it. While I was there I went and took a picture of the fountain that Tina got for the parish garden yesterday. It is of St. Francis so quite appropriate for a church garden.
Tina arrived safely but later than expected as the traffic was bad. Looks like a lovely room to spend a retreat in and a pretty good view too.
I have done a bit of the jigsaw and I did go and do a bit of hoeing in the garden but not too much!
I did pick these while I was out there.
I will probably go out with Darren tomorrow to Lincoln as he has his regular Amiga meeting and the hall is in quite a nice village.
Need to relax a bit over the weekend in readiness for the came making marathon starting on Monday,

  1. I’m sure Tina will soon lose the stress now she’s arrived. It does look like a lovely room, and a great view. I think I could handle a bit of time there myself.
It is strange how cats pick up on stress levels in people. But they always seem to know when something is going on. She soon got over it and fell asleep though 😊
Oh my, what a lot of ingredients! You could have a market stall with all that lot! I think you should consider getting an industrial mixer and oven 😂 I bet you’re really looking forward to Monday. I think I’d drink the bottle of brandy while I was making them! They do taste good though.
The veg box does look nice, but with Tina away as well you’d probably end up wasting a lot of it. So it’s good he could make use of it.
I really like the water feature with St. Francis. Perfect for where it is. Just need to get it connected now.
Is the jigsaw proving to be as hard as you expected it to be?
A trip out with Darren sounds a great idea. No point in sitting at home if you can have a wander around somewhere else. I really hope the weather is on your side tomorrow 🤞
Hopefully you’ll manage a bit of a relaxing easy weekend. You’ll need all your strength, and willpower for Monday 🙂

  2. Yes, I am sure that such a restful place and no one to make demands on her Tina will be able to properly unwind and take time to look after herself.
That is a bit of a mountain of ingredients, hopefully I have got all the amounts right this time.
I was surprised at the amount of stuff in the ten pound taster box, I think it is in connection with local farmers.
The fountain is perfect for the garden nd as you say even better when it is working.
A trip out with Darren will be good and even better if we get something to eat on the way home!
I am building up the enthusiasm to get the cakes made, once I start I get into a routine.
