We did go to the boot sale this morning but had breakfast before we went out as we knew our usual eating place wouldn’t be open. Only handful of stall holders today, maybe the forecast rain, which didn’t arrive, put people off. But I got a couple of hippos for my friend Rachel, I lovely glass bowl for Sher and three large bags for me which will be good to put my sketches in when I have a stall at one of Shers garden markets in September. I spent £4 in total, so a pretty good haul!
I did a couple of chores, had a chat with Anya and popped the bowl round to Sher who was delighted with it. Then I walked down to the hub because I was meeting Darren there when he came out of the gym. I had time to take sea pics before we had lunch.
I went out into the garden this afternoon, did do some strimming until the batteries were flat and then worked on the bed next to the fence alongside Luciens. I had planted gladioli in there, think it was a pack of yellow ones. They were leaning a bit and there was quite a lot of weed. The lawns haven’t been mown for weeks so the edges ar looking bushy now we have had a little rain. I took pics either side of the red flowers.
I worked for a solid hour and it turned really hot, so I was worn out!
The foxgloves in the planter are beginning to pick up a little, so fingers crossed for them.
After dinner I started preparing for the cake making, lining three tins and then staring to measure out the fruit, zest and liquid so that they could soak overnight.
Then measured out flour and spices in one container and almonds and nuts in another! Just as well I bought those colourful containers last year! I had been going to measure out another lot of cakes but had been a couple of hours and enough is enough!
I wonder what my day will consist off tomorrow,
I really like the sketch. I like the nonchalant, “a sketch I did yesterday evening”. It’d take me days to do something like that, and then it’d probably look like a Picasso gone wrong 😂 Me, envious, whatever gives you that idea?😊
ReplyDeleteDefinitely not a bad haul for £4. The hippos are really cute.
You must put some pics on of the finished items once Sher has filled the glassware you find for her.
There’s always time for sea pics. You caught some great spray there. You never get two the same. Almost the perfect subject, apart from insects 🐞 🕷️ 🐜
I’m not surprised you were worn out after an hour., specially in the heat we’ve had lately. You should really be in the summerhouse with a book and a glass of Pimms 😊 The hard work always shows in the pics though, so it’s not in vain. Although I’m sure it doesn’t always feel like that!
All those watering cans lined up neatly in the background of the foxgloves made me smile 🙂 I can’t imagine you do when you’re lugging them about. You need one of those mini tractors with a trailer 🚜
The cake making is like a mini production line. Most people would probably consider it a lot of work, and most people only make one, and not spend several days making a multitude! I bet you wish you’d never started making Christmas cakes. It probably seemed a good idea at the time 😂
I can imagine what your day will consist of tomorrow, and the next day, and the day after that! 😂
Sher always says she will send me pics of the pieces she fills but never does. I will prompt her again!
ReplyDeleteThe hippos are cute and in a lovely stone and very heavy.
The sea was quite lively today, that always has lots of people trying to catch pics of the spray.
I staked most of the gladioli as I don’t want them falling across the grass and getting mowed!
I do sometimes think that making the cakes wasn’t the best ide I ever had. But I know they are well received and once the actual baking is done it isn’t too bad.
