This morning I was definitely feeling a little more lively today, so got a couple of loads of washing done and then watered all the plants which takes a while! Then Darren drove us up to Tesco where we did the main weekly shop. We have both done a bit to the jigsaw today so that is moving along. Just as we we having lunch the new strimmer arrived which Darren put together, so after lunch I went out to try it. Although it is the same design it sounded different and handles slightly differently, but it works well. Such good service as I ordered it yesterday morning.
I just tried an area at the top of the back garden to see it was working and after that I went round the garden going areas that were more jungle like!
When I had done some strimming I decided a couple of large bushes needed to come out as they have pretty enough flowers but they look messy once the flowers die and they also get massive. I had cut off the tall branches before I decided to dig them out. The before and afters are the same area, you can see the wire framework at the back. It was hard gong and I managed to loosen the bits above the ground after a lot of sweating and effort, but the larger roots are still in the ground!
I thinkI mentioned that the Hornsea Herring apple tree had a broken branch, well, more the main trunk, so after the family call Darren came out with me to see if it was salvageable. I had some strong tape that held the recycling bin lid together for months. But the split was one and near the base. Anyway, we tried and used unused raised beds to prop it up!
I have been out watering this evening and although I was disappointed that the gladioli weren’t yellow a I hd thought, the white ones re really quite stunning.
Feeling achey and tired now, but it has been a good day.
Glad to hear you were back to your “normal” self today. It’s easy to tell as you have a list of things you’ve done as long as your arm!
ReplyDeleteHope you made Darren carry all the shopping in. That’s what sons are for 😊
They were very quick getting the new strimmer to you. It certainly makes life a little easier for you in the garden, so it’s good you weren’t without one for too long. Looks like you’ve made good use of it today. It’s certainly had a good test run.
Digging those bushes out was a pretty big job. Not surprised you’re achey and tired tonight. I’d have been knackered!
You did mention the apple tree being broken. You had a glut of apples which I’m sure Darren will enjoy in crumbles. I hope your rescue work does the trick. But if it doesn’t it won’t be from lack of trying. I bet Darren is worn out after a spot of gardening 😂🤣
The gladioli do look nice. You’ll have to get yellow ones for next year……if you’re lucky 😊
It has seemed like a reasonably busy day, it was good that it was a bit cooler so that I could get a bit done in the garden. Maybe I will see if I a get to the roots now that the surface part of the bushes have been removed.
ReplyDeleteThe strimmer is good and I am really impressed with GTechs customer service and service in general.
Boot sale tomorrow.
