House and garden day

This morning was washing and other chores with the grocery delivery in the middle. Then before lunch I went out to start getting the bird feeding area, it was a bit messy and I wanted to get feeders down so that I could wash them. Did take a before shot.
Darren fetched me a cuppa so I sat on a chair near the summer house and took a pic of the garden, not overly weedy as I did prepare quite well last year. There is some colour appearing now.
Filling the bird feeders is okay, getting them apart to clean them is another matter, it took a surprising amount of time.
After lunch I got the area by the tree tidied a bit, I am planning to have the bird table next to that dead tree. It is not a strong enough tree for the cats to climb so hopefully it will work well.
I went around collecting up some of the branches that were ll over the lawn and in the beds , result of the storms and too many trees! I also used the strimmer for a while to reduce some of the tufts on the lawn. It is a very uneven and untreated lawn and the mower that Rob uses is so heavy that it flattens the tufts rather than cut them.
The flower beds on the back garden are not too weedy but they all tend to look like flattened mud.
I started to break up the surface in one area but had to be careful not to damage the bulbs as I did plant a lot last year.
The garden swing had blown over for the umpteenth time so I righted it and sat there for a few minutes before I came in, it had been a lovely day.
The view from the swing, not too shabby.
Feeling weary, was up early again, not having too much success cracking the sleeping!
Tina is away this weekend, Darren and I will go to the boot sale in the morning, weather permitting.

  1. A busy day for you. You’ve certainly done way more than I have today! There a quite a few feeders there to dismantle and clean. I’m not surprised it took a while. Good job you don’t have to do them every day. I hope the plan of putting the new bird table by the tree works out ok and the cats don’t decide to take up tree climbing!
The garden had survived well over winter and has stayed reasonably weed free. You did put a lot of work into last year though, and I’m sure the hard work out there will start in ernest again very soon ☹️
Like you say, not too shabby a view when you’re sitting relaxing in it, so worth the effort.
Hope you find some bargains tomorrow.

    1. Got a few bits done today but not gone too mad.
I am going to try and get out in the garden for a short while every day that the weather is okay unless I am on the course or family group.
