Burton Constable

This morning I headed off to the boot sale with Darren as usual, quite busy today and we had a good wander around, got a few small bits but nothing amazing. We were home a while, I got casseroles on the go for dinner and had a chat with Anya and then we set off for Burton Constable as Darren has an archery competition. I had thought about going into the house today but it isn’t open for the season yet. I went into the various stables and rooms in the courtyards today to take some pictures, I didn’t feel like too much walking today. Mostly fairly self explanatory but I may add the odd comment!

I thought we could do with something like this at the families at three sessions,

I had a gentle stroll around the house while making my way to the orangery.

I was alone in the orangery and sat for an hour or so reading my book. The trees are amazing.

I passed this bush with the dark leaves and yellow flowers, will try to find out what it is.
I made my way back to the stables and as they hadn’t quite finished the competition went and had a cuppa in the cafe. Then we made our way home and in time for the start of the Grand Prix. That ended in exciting fashion!

  1. You have kept busy today then. It’s been a nice day for it though, well it was here.
Burton Constable really does look a nice place judging from all the pics tonight. The orangery in particular looks very peaceful and a perfect place for a bit of reading. You were very lucky to have it all to yourself. You need to win the lottery so you can have an orangery, and a gardener 😊
I think the height sign would be a good idea for your family sessions. Keep any larger children from causing mayhem!
The Grand Prix did sound exciting from your description earlier. Poor old Max 😂
    So, did Darren win anything?

    1. It is a lovely place to spend some time, and it was peaceful in the orangery, and I was lucky to be alone as it was actually quite busy there today. Although there is obviously a door there are no signs to say go in, although it is mentioned in the sheet they give you.
No, Darren wasn’t in a winning streak today, was trying out some new bits on his bow.
