A bird themed day

The ground feeder for the birds and the cage to stop the larger birds and animals getting at the food arrived yesterday. I didn’t put it out first thing when I went out to top the feeders up and did a bit later in the morning. There were four quite long pegs to pin each side of the cage down, so hopefully the squirrels and seagulls won’t be able to dislodge it. It will take a while to become well used but we did spot at least one small bird venture in today. I put a couple of pavers in the base to control the weeds and protect the wood bit.

The bird table arrived late morning, on a flat pack and it was really heavy. Such a lot of pieces that I have told Tina that I cannot make it on my own! There are about six or maybe eight different length screws and the instructions have a ruler on so that you can check you are using the right ones! It think the list my be on the sheet in the second photo.

I helped out at the Families at Three session again this afternoon. It was well attended today, I helped on the craft table. S one lovely little lass was happy for me to photograph her work, but not her!
I did go and talk to a couple of the mums I have spoken to before, really lovely young women.
Feeling weary now, meeting Lesley for a cuppa tomorrow which will be good.

  1. The ground feeder looks really good quality and should do exactly what you want. I’m sure the gulls and pigeons will try to get the food to start with, but I doubt they’ll have much luck. The smaller birds will soon pluck up enough courage to give it a try. In the end it should be perfect. The large bird table looks a nice kit. You’ll definitely need some help to put it together as screwing in those long screws won’t do your wrists much good. It’s handy having a big strong son on these occasions 😊 Serves you right Darren, you wanted your mother to live with you!
The little group session seems to have caught on really well. I love the little girls picture. Reminds me of Top Cat.
Your life is all go, no wonder you’re always weary.

  2. The bird feeders were pretty expensive, but are really good quality. Soon have lots of happy little birds hopefully.
The family group does seem to have really taken off with several families coming for second or thrived times.
