Oh, I do love to live beside the seaside!

We didn’t go to the boot sale this morning as we had a man come me to collect some furniture which had bee arranged on Thursday. But Lily’s Beach Cafe opens at 8.30am so Darren and I went there. It had been dull but dry when I fed the birds but the heavens had opened by the time we got to the front. One picture side and a couple from a very brief walk to the edge!

The guy came as arranged and took the furniture away and then I had a chat with Anya. Before lunch I tidied up the dining room where the excess furniture had been, it looks a lot more spacious now. Didn’t take any pics so you will have to take my word for it.
After lunch the weather had cleared so I took a walk to the front again, it did start to rain as I was arriving so after a couple of photos of the sky over the sea and behind me before heading to the cafe!

When I came out of the cafe the seascapes were fabulous, so a bit of an overload of photos, but not apologising!

The last couple the off shore wind was blowing the waves and it always makes me think of horses manes.

On the way home I walked round behind the Methodist church which backs onto the toilet block. Lots of bun moss today so well stocked up for assembling terrariums.
The puddle in the car park has returned briefly.
Writing the blog early today as I am getting dinner later as Tina is out on the Pumpkin trail.

Jab, sorting and resting!

Out fairly early, but the shopping came early too so was able to help with that before I left. A bit dull and miserable, but not wet. It was very well organised at the surgery, and even got weighed and blood pressure checks while waiting my fifteen minutes before leaving. The arm is really beginning to ache now but feel fine otherwise. Wintry looking sea this morning, almost monochrome!

These plants in a garden added a bit of colour to the morning.k
I did some shopping on the way home and apart from taking some supplies to the greenhouse have spent the day indoors. Some tidying, some getting stuff ready for going to the abbey and some just sitting!
I sent for a set of ring adjusters as I have a couple of rings that are too loose. None of the little clips stayed put, but the tube things seem to work.
Going to enjoy Strictly now.

Sky and sea

I have been taking the phone out when I feed the birds, I often miss a photo opportunity when I leave it indoors! Not a lot of cloud, but a good sky morning!

I visited Bel for a cuppa and chat and then walked through the town before buying something for lunch. Near the public loos in the park I spotted a little lump of cushion moss, more searching and I found a bit more, people probably thought I was dog ending, but that is their problem!
I did work in the garden for over an hour, some digging and more plants and bulbs in the bed, you will be happy to hear I didn’t take photos!
Was feeling a bit off colour with general aches and pains so took a walk to the sea and had pensioners fish and chips! Pics of the sea before eating and one while I was waiting.

A couple more after, used the ‘night’ mode.

One more on the way home.

Booster COVID jab in the morning.

Decluttering arranged!

For some months now I have had pieces of furniture downstairs in the dining room and have intended to get them moved on. We had thought about going to auction with them, but the cost of having them collected and then the outrageous seller charges it seemed less than worth the effort. The man in the local shop took a funny and didn’t want them, his loss as we were practically giving them away. There is a second hand/antique place at Skirlaugh Garden Centre but I didn’t have their number or know what they are called! So when Tina asked where I fancied lunch today I suggested we go there and went round taking photos of the items in question. The guy there is coming to collect them on Sunday which is really good and he is getting a bargain. It was funny, when I wandered off to give the lady my name and number and the address the guy told Tina that he didn’t deal with old people but was h apply that she vouched for me! I think Tina nearly choked as she really doesn’t think of me as old and decrepit, even though I am getting that way fast! Did buy a small bowl and dish for the top so spent a whole £1 there!
Back to the rest of the day now. The sky was subtle rather than colourful when I was feeding the birds early this morning.

I walked down to the post box and went to the chemist and then we did a few chores before going to the garden centre in time for lunch. We went to the cafe first as they are not the most efficient in that cafe, and today we waited for over half an hour but the jacket potatoes were fine nice they arrived! Tina bought a fabulous little cabinet for Darren which we hope he will display some of his packs of cards in.
I did buy some outside plants but also this collection of indoor ones for terrarium designing when I get back from the abbey trip.
We called at the mere on the way back as we had duck food.

A very pretty duck and a very brave one!

I did do a little bit of planting this afternoon, not too much as the hip pain has been pretty bad today.

Caught up with Shetland and about to watch The Long Call, spoilt for good dramas at the moment.

Kill or Cure?

I fed the birds before getting ready to walk down to the leisure centre again. Took photos from the greenhouse, the sky changed as I was filling feeders and scattering food on the lawn.

Another in the front garden and then on the way.

As the sky was still lovely when I got to the leisure centre I walked to the sea before going in.

Just took one more photo when I came out after my twelve lengths and a float in the learner pool, and tea cake and tea in the cafe!
The pampas grass near the front is in full bloom now.

Walking home I felt really shattered, really feeling unfit and old! But after a bit f a relax indoors I decided to catch the bus into Hull as I wanted to get puzzle books and toiletries to take to the abbey next week. As there will be no internet or tv I need to take plenty to keep my occupied!
I went to the post office to post some letters, one was so bit for Tina and she had written ‘do not bend’ on it, the only box with a big enough mouth was actually inside the post office. I stocked up on stamps as well. Did my bits of shopping and had a general wander. I like this monument to those who lost their lives in the war, no sustained soldiers but victims of the heavy bombing in Hull as well. I wasn’t sure if I could take a photo of the inside through the slits and was pleasantly surprised.

I usually like the back seat on the lower floor of the bus as it is a bit higher and you get the breeze if the windows are open. But today the heating was n and I was hot anyway from walking around town and ended up roasting! When I person in front got off I move seats to one that hasn’t got a heater the back of it!
I meant to add a picture of the mahonia bush yesterday as it is really fabulous this year and looks even better with less weed round it!
Feeling weary but hoping I stay awake for the third part of the drama tonight.
