From there to the mere as we had bought more duck food at the garden centre.
We walked round the mere this time, by one of the bridges at the top end we had a stand off with a pair of swans, we thought they were guarding their young but in the end decided they didn’t like the plastic bag Tina was carrying! We hid it and edged past them and then got a picture of the beautiful, almost adult, cygnets.
We had a sausage sandwich at the mere and then went back to the accommodation and sat on the patio.
Then Tina headed off home and I set off for a walk. It was a surfer day, mad fools!
I headed into the town, my aim to walk over the valley bridge and walk on to the Clock Cafe. Passed this window display on the way.
Onward to the bridge.
There was a lot of work being done on the pathways and some were blocked. A young workman said I could find my way to the cafe up a steep incline! Mmm, ended up higher than the Spa complex, hadn’t been there before!
I had to go down what felt like hundreds of steps into the Spa, took a photo of graduation celebrations and then more steps onto thr foreshore!
A bit further along and the destination in sight.
Another climb but I followed the longer easy access path rather than the steps. Had a well received cuppa then. Nice view.
A couple more shots as I walked back along the foreshore.
The hill back up to the bridge was ridiculously steep and I really struggled!
It was a fair walk back to the accommodation and I was desperate for a sit and drink or ice cream, but everywhere was closed! So walked back, took a photo of where we were staying then went inside and collapsed for the evening! Not literally of course, we were in the rooms on the floor at the top of the red steps.
What a lovely last day for the two of you together. I know all those places well and also know how nice the scones are 😊 Really good fun and some great views. I like the triple pic of the two of you as you really can see you’re enjoying yourselves.
ReplyDeleteThe swans do look a bit vicious! I’m always wary of them myself. They’d make a great Christmas dinner though 😊
I think the little outdoor area you had was a nice addition. Lucky you had some reasonable weather to enjoy it too.
Looks like you had plenty more exercise when Tina had set off. Scarborough is lovely, but you have to be prepared for some steep gradients at times. It’s well worth it for some of the views you get though.
Even a steep climb to your digs! You’ll be glad of a rest.
It was all really good, think we really made the most of it and have some great memories.
