This morning Tina and I were up and dressed reasonably early as the plumber was due to come and check out the leak in the loft at some point. Tina went out a bit after 9 am and I took my book and read downstairs as I really can't rush down the stairs when someone rings the door bell!! The plumber and his son arrived about 11.30 am, had a look and said it was the overflow leaking. Darren and I had noticed the leak outside a while back and I had to move one of my bonsai trees as it was getting drowned! They went off to get a new ballcock. Daniel, the son, had the tricky job of trying to fit it in a very confined space. He couldn't get the old, large, ballcock out but luckily the new one was smaller so he could get in in and fit it. The leak has now stopped so hopefully the ceiling will dry and at some point I can reattach the paper.
I caught the but into town, wanted to get a folding walking stick and some travel shampoo and conditioner. Also some new memory cards for the camera. The man in the key cutting place was lovely, sold me a stick and cut it down for me. I think I may have said it was short enough too soon, but I can cut a bit more off, I shortened the other one myself. This one will make it much easier when I am travelling as it will fold down small enough to go in by hand luggage.
It is the flowery one with the red handle, quite attractive. Sitting on a bench before I caught the bus home the sun was making the window in the front of the Brunswick  Centre look quite odd.
Then there were these most unusual 'shoppers' going down the main street!
Made a pie with leftover meat for tea and may do a bit of painting this evening, I have two more plaques to get ready.

  1. Good to get the leak sorted as you don't really want a soggy ceiling this time of year, or any time of year come to that!
Very funky walking stick. Think you'll be safe on your travels with that, I doubt anyone will try to pinch it :-) Pity you couldn't get one with spiders on.
I really like the picture of the window. It makes it almost look derelict, as if there is only a front wall and you can see through the top of a broken window.

  2. It just caught my eye as I was sitting on a bench. It does look derelict too. Might have to make a case for the stick when folded, the machine hasn't been out for a bit!

  3. Hadn't thought of a case, but that's a good idea.
