I fed the Christmas cakes for the tenth time today and they look and smell good. One more feed before I go away and then, when I get back from visiting Lee and the family I will marzipan them and a while after that ice and decorate. Darren is going to help me deliver them just before Christmas. I sorted out some of the ceramics I had painted at the studio for them to sell if they can. I have way too much stuff and nowhere to keep it. Even if I have more room when we move I still have a lot of stuff that hasn't seen the light of day since I came here. I caught the bus to the studio and then walked into town, got another pair of sandals as at the moment that is all I can wear comfortably. I will try shoes again, as sandals are not the best thing to be wearing now winter is moving in. I also went and ordered a second pair of glasses as I had a voucher to get a prescription pair for half price. Caught the bus home and went outside to get the ladder out of the cupboard in the garden. Will explain why in a minute. As I went through the kitchen Colonel was walking really badly, in fact one of his front legs was bend at a funny angle right under him, looked like it was broken. Called  Tina down and she phoned the vet for an urgent appointment. We took him in, the vet doesn't think it is broken, gave him an anti inflammatory injection and said he will take x-rays etc if there is no improvement or if it gets worse. It makes us cringe to watch him but it doesn't seem to bother him too much.
Back to the ladder. A few days ago I noticed the ceiling paper was coming away in my bedroom. I didn't think too much of it, just thought I needed to get some paste and stick it back up.
A couple of evenings ago I was having a cup of tea with Tina and noticed stains on my living room ceiling, at which point the penny dropped that there was a problem.
Darren did try and have a look using my steps yesterday but could barely get his head into the loft space, so today I got the proper ladder in. Tina and I have both been up and we are fairly sure that it is a problem with the water tank not a hole in the roof. A plumber is coming to check it out on Monday. Anya sent me the fourth season of House and it arrived today, so have watched one episode, plenty of watching to keep me occupied for a while now.

  1. Busy day, but lots done. That's always good. Hopefully colonel won't need any more urgent trips to the vet, fingers crossed. Are you virtually ready now for your trip to America?
That ceiling doesn't look good. Hopefully if you leave it to dry out once the leak is fixed, it'll stick back up. But it's usually a nightmare to do! Assuming the ceiling doesn't fall down that is. At least it would alleviate the glueing problem :-)

  2. Not even made a start on preparing for the trip, guess I should get my head round it!
Hopefully the ceiling will be okay until Monday!
