I caught the bus into town, needed to sort out currency and travel insurance and wanted some jiffy bags and some more of the colour in greetings cards if they had any left. Although the ankle has not been great today if I walk very slowly and use the stick I can cover a reasonable distance. So, today I thought I would walk home North Marine way, haven't done that in weeks if not months. Did stop at the studio to see Donna for a little while and got a cup of tea! I had bought the ingredients for a date and walnut cake from the little old cookery booklet, so thought I would see if another recipe was successful despite our very temperamental oven!It certainly looked good, when I got it out and the house had a nice aroma.
When it had cooled a bit I had to cut myself a slice just to make sure it is edible you understand.
My ankle continues to be troublesome today, so I have been doing a bit more card colouring. Two of these are the same, amazing how different they can look with a change of colours.
What seems like ages ago I ordered some 'potato bags' for the microwave. They are supposed to cook baked potatoes in about four minutes. I cooked two sweet potatoes but ended up cooking them for six minutes in total, could have possibly done with a minute more but I will try again. My microwave is only a 700 so I often have to cook for a bit longer that the packets say.

  1. It's good you manage to get out, even if you have to take it steady. You're not in a rush to get anywhere, and a stop off for a natter and a cuppa on route is nice.
The cake looks really nice. That little recipe book has definitely proved to be a winner. What's next on the list?
My microwave is only 700 watt, and I normally wrap 1 sweet potato in kitchen roll and do it for 6 minutes. So to do 2 in the same time is quite good. The bag must work. Does it help make them crisp at all?

    1. No not crisp really, and could have done with a bit longer, but with butter and blue cheese they were very enjoyable. No more baking from the book lined up yet.

  2. Your Date and Walnut cake looks lovely, well done. I have never seen those bags for doing jacket potatoes, hope it's successful. I usually do a potatoe in kitchen roll then pop it in the halogen to crisp for Brian, I can't eat the skin so mine does not matter. Your cards also look good. Your certainly keeping busy.x

  3. I usually just use kitchen roll, but this is quicker and no need to stab them either! I don't mind the skin being soft although they are better crisped up. x
