When I went to post a letter yesterday I noticed how bad the pavement was outside the church, littered with wet, crushed yew berries. I think they are more slippery than leaves. So this morning I went out and swept the pavement and the church steps. Took about an hour and I managed to get and break a blister on the inside of my index finger. Ouch! The rest of the morning I did general housework and a little jigsaw before lunch. This afternoon I walked into Dunkeld and looked round St Ninians garden to check for damage. Really only quite a few twigs but not too bad. These very large hostas are very dramatic now they are dying off.
Took a few photos on my way back.Hard to believe this burn was almost dry a few weeks back.
I think Darren and I have spent about three to four hours on the jigsaw, you can see from our progress that it is going to be a long job!
The knitting pattern I got at The Nest is way too complicated, and actually trying to knit again made my wrists ache, so that project may be put on hold!
I messaged Moira, who runs the gardening volunteers to see if she could leave the shed unlocked form me in the morning so I can to a bit to the pollinator bed. She said she will before she goes out, so that is good as I have some bulbs to put in and can do a bit more clearing.

You are good. Clearing up the leaves to make it safer for old people. Oh hang on…….you are an old person, so maybe a young person should be doing it instead π Let them get a blister! It does make a lot of sense to get it cleaned up though. The leaves are bad enough when they’re wet, so with the berries too it’s treacherous. Darren…….get out and sweep the paths ππ
ReplyDeleteHousework, jigsaw, walks. Up to then you’ve probably done ten times more than me! I thought eating bacon sarnies and chocolate cake was hard work π Glad you didn’t find any damage at the gardens. Once less job you don’t need to add to your ever growing list.
I like the sky in the darker pic, and I’m sure you posted a pic of the burn a while ago. It’s definitely a raging torrent now compared to back then.
It sounds like you’ll be getting your monies worth out of that jigsaw. No point in them being too easy. You lot are in the higher echelons of jigsaw puzzlers these days, so need something challenging.
Putting the knitting to one side for a while sounds a good idea. Buy a hat from a charity shop to keep your head warm for now π
I hope the weather stays reasonable for you tomorrow so you can get your bulbs sorted. Extra curricular gardening now……they’ll think you’re a goody two shoes ππ
A good nights sleep is definitely in order ready for another busy day tomorrow.
The path wasn’t perfect, but certainly a lot better and it stayed dry so that the gooey bits dried up. I do volunteer for Dunkeld and Birnam in Bloom so it seemed right to get it sorted. One lady who walked by ws very appreciative.
ReplyDeleteHousework is never high on my priority list, but now and again it just has to be done!
A bit of a walk was good, that has just reminded me that I haven’t done any exercises yet, so hd better get on with them before bed!
