Try to keep walking

We went to the boot sale this morning as usual. Darren had his hair cut there today, I think they are getting quite a few people having hair cuts now. I bought a couple of glass jars for Sher and some daffodil bulbs that have pink centres. Had a chat with Anya when we got home and then took the jars to Sher before walking to the front via the trail. I detoured through the community orchard today, lots of apple trees, you can see more clearly in the second photo.

As I walked up to the trail I took some photos, one of the path, one because I liked the combination of colours, another because I have never seen so many acorns on a branch and another as the autumn colours are appearing!

As I finished walking along the trail several runners went by as there was a race on. I felt really tired and very achey when I got to the front, will it lessen if I keep on walking, only time will tell!
Yesterday I had emailed Jude, the glass fusing lady as I was concerned that I had been too hasty in my fairly complicated design, I said I would take a simpler design as well and asked if she could find time to do have a one to one session with me to give me more instruction on cutting shapes. I got a reply when I was out. Jude said she could grind some pieces if I managed to cut them but hadn’t got more time for teaching but had contacted another glass worker who may help and said she was going to be at the town hall today. So after lunch I went along to the town hall and what a lovely lady. Not only is she willing to help me get to grips with the cutting but has agreed to see me tomorrow at her studio so that I can make the most of my workshop on Tuesday. I did look round while I wa there and bought a pair of earrings and four lovely little shells!

Haven’t done a lot this afternoon, a couple of chores and sorting dinner. I am still quite achey. Need to be active this week in readiness for Tina’s return at the weekend.

Morning walk

I am trying to keep to the kill or cure extra walking, at the moment it is veering towards kill! I walk a different way to the front passing Hornsea Burton school and arriving at the inshore lifeboat station.

Some photos on the way.

The next couple of photos are by the new housing which caused concerns over how local services would manage and also the extra congestion, which is an issue in the town. The first one is an odd sort of gulley I think and the second one was supposed to be a lake!

I walked along the front up to the Floral Hall and then came home.
At home Darren helped me finish the jigsaw then we went to Tesco to do the shopping.

One piece missing from the jigsaw unless we just couldn’t spot it on the carpet.
I did go into the garden for a while this afternoon, clearing some unruly brambles, but didn’t overdo it.
Framed two more pics.

Early walk, visit and jigsaw!

I decided to go for a walk quite early before I went to visit Bel. I went to the sea front and walked a bit further along than I have recently. Some photos, I love the donut advert!

I went to see Bel as usual, she wasn’t at her best today but soon perked up when we had chatted for a while. I framed one more picture, a simple one that I quite like.
I have spent quite a bit of time on the jigsaw today, it is proving to be quite tricky!

Rosie came round for a cuppa and a chat this afternoon, she seems to be coping really well but we chatted about crafty things as well and she thought my paintings will be okay at the garden market.

Framing and visit

I framed three more pictures after doing the blog last night, let’s hope something catches eye!

I had ordered some more inexpensive frames but they didn’t arrive until later so I decided to start trying to plan something for the fuse glass class. I hadn’t got anything that was 17cm round but managed to enlarge a slight smaller one, S Jude, who runs the workshop had said she would cut one that size form me. I thought of doing a river coming through rocks a bit like the one I painted at the pottery a while ago. When I started I realised that it may be too difficult until I am a bit more experienced at cutting. So may design a simpler one too.

I went into the kitchen and had a sudden urge to clean the cooker up a bit, not the best idea but it is better than it was! I set off early to go to Jeans so that I could walk a bit further. Just took this one photo on the way and then some by the sea.

In this technical age it seems that playing about in the sand will be ever go out of fashion. There were some dark clouds as I went along to see Jean, ever hopeful of the rain arriving!
Jean was okay,  bit achey and talking of joining the gym as she enjoyed her sessions arranged by the surgery. When Terry brought me home the heavens opened, short and sharp but enough to enable me to leave the watering tonight. The package with the frames in was on the doorstep and the box was wet but the contents fine.
Darren was later home again and we enjoyed out take away then. Have framed two pics from China but may check with the family if they want them as it is one of the more unusual things I have done!

I do have a couple more frames so may see if I have sketches of a suitable size.

A walk, a chat, and sorting sketches

Yesterday evening I started going through sketches and sorting out frames. I have a lot but not necessarily the right size! I got quite a few of more recent sketches framed in readiness for thr garden market next week.

This morning I set out at about 9.15am to have a walk before meeting Linda for a cuppa and chat at the hub. I walked on the trail again going past the community orchard and the to the sea front.

Had a nice natter with Linda and was telling her about my plants on stands but couldn’t find the photo, so took one to send her when I got home.
Linda gave me a few surplus lands that she had grown on from plugs.

Have been sorting sketches since and did pop put to me of the charity shops to see if they had any suitable frames. They didn’t but there are a couple of others to try tomorrow. I did get a few more framed and have chaos in the bedroom now!
Darren was in later tonight s went straight out to do essential watering after we had eaten. Off to attack the chaos now!

Bit of walking, bit of baking

I did go out reasonably early for a walk, not as far today and went through the park which I haven done for a while. Took a few photos of course.

The bindweed is over everything by the path, left alone it can look attractive.
This is a new sign, I suppose it is in memory of somebody.
A couple more and one of an unusual tree trunk in the memorial gardens.

I did pop out a bit later to go to the banking hub when it was open. Took a photo of the anemones but the Methodist church as they are splendid.
I spent the morning making a cake and an apple crumble so that Darren has snacks when he gets in from work. After lunch I did pop along to see Sher to check when the garden market is and she has asked me to work a couple of days in Botany Boutique while they are away. Rather than have payment I have my name down for a couple of workshops instead.
When I was home I decided to try and lol some of the plant growth that is smothering one of the outhouses.
The long lopper is a bit of a challenge for me but I got a fair amount of the plant down.
One ladybird pic to finish!

A bit of a pipe dream

This morning I fed the Christmas cakes and then got ready to walk to a part of the beach I haven’t been to before. I didn’t  mention on Saturday that I had gone to an event at the museum where some people were displaying their fossils and minerals. The couple who collect fossils were fascinating and the vast array of items they had had all been found on the beach between Hornsea and Mappleton. That part of the beach is accessed from the car park that is near the inshore lifeboat station. So I took a bottle of water and a hammer and set off to walk there. Passed the wall art and the inshore building after taking a picture as soon as I got to the front.

The view as I got to the end of the car park I could see Mappleton church.
The steps down to the beach were definitely not intended for the elderly!

Those were about a foot deep with shallow treads, I was very careful! Then I wasn’t sure I could get much further but there was a way through. Several pics and evidence of coastal erosion.

The view towards Bridlington as I was back at the top.
I had a drink at the cafe at the inshore lifeboat cafe. Seats outside, and really pleasant, and they had a puffin!

Now to the heading, I love the idea of finding a fossil stone and opening it and being the first person to have seen it after millions of years, but sadly I am not physically up to bending down and digging things up etc, but I loved getting to that part of the beach and would like to attempt walking to Mappleton, but would need to take a fold up seat with me as there are no rocks to have a rest on, and I can’t sit on the beach as I wouldn’t be able to get up! I did brink home a nice sandstone rock but no fossils!

We had a chat with Tina earlier as she had a talking day. She sounds very relaxed which is good and I will finish with a couple of photos that she sent.
