Mostly painting!

The only trips out today were to feed the birds and to go to the nearest shop, which is very near, for milk! So apart from getting meals and doing a couple of crosswords I have been painting the treasure chest, which has taken a ridiculously long time. I painted the main body of the chest last night.

They will be browns, not particularly dark, but darker than it looks now when it is fired. There are handles on the sides which don’t show, just raised pottery but another bit that took time.  So now it is finished and I will take it into the studio on my next visit.

Dentist tomorrow for a change!

Not a photo day

Today I had to take it a bit easy on the leg as it is still playing up some. There was a little rain earlier and it has certainly turned colder  Did manage to get into the garden and feed the birds, the new feeders are proving quite good at the moment, I am sure the squirrels will work out how to demolish them before long.

After the shopping had been delivered Darren said he needed some batteries from Pound Stretcher and took me along for a little trip out. I just stayed in the pottery studio and had a drink and chatted to Rob while Darren walked up to the shop. Some nice new items in the pottery, a lantern and a clock caught my eye. Will take pics next time I go.

This evening I am going to start painting the treasure chest.

Haven’t taken any photos today so will add one memory from a year to, and one collage that appeared in my photos today!

Not going out tomorrow but may have some painting to take pics of!

Taking it easy

My leg has been a little better today but I haven’t done a great deal. I did manage to get into the garden and feed the birds. A squirrel froze on some tubs as Blue had wandered down while I was filling the feeders.

I have packed away the few Christmas bits and also packed the Christmas cake containers that I have back away for now.  But have sat and done crosswords as well. I brought a ‘treasure chest’ home from the pottery studio on Wednesday to paint at home. May make. Start over the weekend.

I have finished the colouring with the pens, they are quicker than pencils.

Hopefully another restful day will meant I can get out for a bit tomorrow.

Good trip out but bad leg day!

Went into church this morning to take down the Christmas tree, I hope everyone else turned up to dismantle and remove theirs. Jeddah and Judywere gong to be there all day. My leg hasn’t been too good so we took the rollator and made our way to a garden centre we hadn’t been to for a long while near Beverley. They do a loyalty card now so I signed up. We had a coffee as we were there quite early and then had a good look round. I bought a new bird feeder and some seed and some packets of seeds as I may be able to do some planting in the greenhouse. Then we had a very nice lunch before setting off to The Range in Hull. I wanted to get something wooden to decoupage as Tina brought back some lovely tissues from her trip and I hought I would sure them to decorate something. I got a small money box, Palau’s some paintbrushes and a really cheap back to decorate with tiny stones like the gecko I did. Oh yes, did get a pink poinsettia reduced to £3 as well and have had a go at a pastel representation. Much looser that anything I usually do with the soft pastels.

We stopped at a farm shop on the way back, by then my knees so painful that I stayed in the car, that is when I took the crows in the tree pic.

By the time we were indoors my knee felt like it was about to explode and only began to settle after hlf an hour with me feet up, so looks like it is going to be a couple of days only moving when absolutely necessary!

I have plenty to do while resting the leg if I feel like doing something crafty, or puzzle books if I want a brain workout!

A good day  and the weather was lovely.

Colouring and painting

Yesterday evening I started colouring one of the pictures in the book Tina passed onto me, and used the felt pens, also from Tina. The leg has been painful today so have done a bit more to it. Very intricate so not a speedy pastime.

The garden was muddy when I fed the birds, but it is quite good at the moment as the new three part feeder seems to be dozing the squirrels for now. At one pint when I came there were about twenty wood pigeons scouring for titbits!

I caught the bus up to Freeport, it was half full today which is very unusual, sometimes two or three other people and sometimes I have ti to myself!

I finished painting the ivy on the candlestick and becaus I had a fair bit of the green paint I had mixed I painted a couple of small hearts as well.

They look a bit like Loveheart sweets!

I walked up to Pound Stretcher and regretted it. Had to sit on the rollator for a while before making my way back down to catch the bus.

Sat with my feet up doing a bit of the colouring before going to visit Sarah and David. Have seen them for a couple of weeks now.

A quiet evening and the start of the new series of Traitors to look forward to.

Almost forgot, the tooth sage goes on! The same tooth I have now mentioned three times on recent dental visit broke again when I wa eting a breakfast bar this morning! As per usual they cannot see me, but I can go at 8.30am on Monday and sit and wait hoping she will have a gap! Not hurting at the moment so fingers crossed it stays that way.

Catching up!

The knee is being difficult at the moment, but positivity is the plan and I am feeling quite cheerful. A few short walks today, early on to post some letters, then along Newbegin to The Green Owl to have breakfast with Angela. It had been closed for a few weeks for refurbishment and was looking very inviting inside. We had an enjoyable meal and a lovely chat as always. By the time I came home the rain had set in, the garden gets wetter and wetter.

I decided to try and push the wooden jigsaw closer together, not a good plan as about a fifth of the pieces just came apart! I did get it made again but now worry how I can glue it as the pieces are not interlocking. Maybe I will buy some story glue as I think anything else will just lift the pieces.

This afternoon I was back to 

The Green Owl again to meet Sher. This time O just had a drink while she had a sandwich. She got me a little key chain decoration and a lovely pair of earrings, both made by local crafters.

This evening I thought I would have a little play with the soft pastels that Tina gave me yesterday. May have a go at colouring with the felt tips later.

Going up to the pottery studio tomorrow when I hope to finish the candlestick I have been painting.

New Year’s Day

It seems appropriate to post a picture from four years ago today. I am not sure if the event happened today, but I imagine it did.

I slept downstairs last night on the recliner, it was a little better but the leg has been pretty bad today. I am in positive frame of mind, and at the moment thankful that the knee was pretty good while I was away. Yesterday evening I started sorting the pieces of the gorgeous wooden jigsaw, with lots of unusual pieces.

I did manage to walk to the newsagents this morning, I wanted a paper and some cards. I knew on the way back I wouldn’t be doing much more exercise today. So I did I some sorting, changed the duvet, so some exercise! Then a lot of the day on the puzzle. Will put progress pics.

Haven’t long finished, so will be getting ready to retire soon! Tina has been having a big sort out today so now I have more things that will go in the pile to keep me busy.

I hope that the knee soon begins to settle, but will keep busy whether it does or doesn’t.
