Trip on the bus with Tina!

Yesterday evening I put some more crystals onto the gecko, just black and some yellow, spent quite a time again and is is growing - slowly!
Our bus company has introduced the £2 single trips for a while so Tina suggested we go to Beverley on the bus today. We had breakfast when we got there and then we went to St Mary’s where they had a display of angels. It is a lovely church and the angels were amazing. Also displays of moulds that are of sculptures now on the outside of the church.

We ambled through most of the town, went in some shops and then had lunch. Quite weary by the time we went to catch the bus home,

I have been in quite a bit of pain with my knee today, so had better cut down the walking a bit, but it didn’t spoil our day and quite a novelty for Tina to have a trip on the buses.
Just visiting Bel tomorrow so a quieter day.

Hull and bargain books!

Last night Tina said she had an appointment in Hull so I could have a lift in. This morning after several phone calls Tina said it was all change and she wasn’t going into Hull after all. I was in the mind set to go so went and caught the bus. When I was on the bus Tina messaged to say it had changed again and she was going to Hull, si we arranged to meet for lunch later. Before I left I thought I would try and draw something quickly with the glass dip pen, it flows quite well and I had some black in.
I made my way to Lush as I had a pot to return and get my discount on the replacement, just as I was arriving there Tina phoned to say she had finished her meeting so we met up and went to Waterstones for lunch, and to look at the books. We have been using the loyalty scheme and had reached the £10 to be able to use it. I found two great books at half price and ended up actually paying under four pound for them! The bird book has lovely illustrations and anecdotes about each of the birds. Haven’t looked at the Frida Kahlo one yet, but have red about her and she is a fascinating woman.
When we left the book shop I decided to stay in town for a bit and Tina headed home. I walked to the new bridge near Princes Quay, as I neared there was a man surrounded by pigeons but they were spooked by something before I could take a photo.

He was feeding them so they soon came back!
I walked to the bridge and across it to take a picture from the other end.

I went into Princes Quay and had a wander in the vintage shop. I always have a look and today I bought a top for a fiver.
The sun had made an appearance when I came back into the town.
There has been a food hall in the building that used to be Hammond department store. It used to have loads of small businesses and some craft ones as well, but today it just had several bars serving various foods. These two trucks used to be stalls.
I decided to try and do a pen and wash picture using the glass pen. I don’t usually make scenes up but couldn’t think what to draw,
I like using the pen so will think of something to draw next time!
I think Pandora is asleep on one of my chairs so I may do a bit to the gecko.

Not scrumptious weather!

What a difference a day makes as the saying goes. Wet, grey and chilly today! It was Christmas tree dismantling day today so I got the wheelbarrow ready to collect mine, but left it at the house until I had removed all the decorations from the tree and fetched them home. That went quite well and I asked Steve if he would carry the tree into the porch for me so that I could just transfer it to the wheelbarrow. I SHOULD have said carry it by holding the pot! He picked it up bu the pole, and the rest, as they say, is history! Oops. The tree is fine and I didn’t need the wheelbarrow to carry it home!
Quite a mess to clear up!
After lunch, despite the weather, I decided to take a walk up to Freeport. Called in to see Sher at Botany Botanics on the way. She told me about some craft taster sessions later in the month and said she would book me on any I wanted to attend. Then I carried on to Freeport thinking I would probably bus back. Had a drink and called in at the pottery painting place to see when they were doing the next firing. Had just missed a but so thought I would walk back the road way. Had just started when the girl from pottery place phoned me to say that the families pots were ready for collection! That was quite funny as I had just been talking to her. Their efforts are all good.

I was quite weary when I got home as I did a lot of walking yesterday as well.
When I visited Jean last week her husband Terry showed me a glass dip pen he had bought. Very reasonable price and looked lovely, I didn’t know they existed, but now I have one, it arrived this afternoon. I have only had a little play, but it is great?

Since dinner I have spent about an hour putting crystals on the gecko, don’t expect to see it completed any time soon!
I did phone the dentist this morning but they cannot fit me in for an appointment before my check up on 3rd February, so over a month to try and stop it getting any worse!

Scrumptious weather!

I sorted out some washing and got one load done before going for a walk. I set off for the beach and planned to walk further along it than I had before. Absolutely beautiful day, clear skies and sunshine. Lots of people about and loads of anglers on the far beach.

I got some lunch when I got home and the spent almost an hour putting pieces onto the gecko. Then I went out into the garden for a while and cleared one bed of most of the leaves.

I wrote a few cards and went down to put them in the postbox.
Will go and see Sarah and David this evening. A busy but good day.

New Years Day

This morning I walked down to the front, a lovely start to the day.

Darren met me down there and we had breakfast at Lily’s then I walked home going along a bit of the trail.
I popped in and got rolls for lunch on the way home, then after a bit of a rest I went out into the garden, spent quite a while out there and did a lot of pruning and weeding. Didn’t take a before, which is a pity as I made quite a difference.
There was a really long bramble runner that had grown through the fir tree and down to the ground the other side. It was fun getting it out!
Tina and Darren got me a crystal art gecko for Christmas, probably took me getting on for two hours to do the tiny amount that I did.
After dinner I thought I would print some photos, it wasn’t happening! Darren and Tina both battled with it for some time, at least it wasn’t me being stupid! It is working at the moment so I printed a couple. Will see if it is responding again tomorrow!
