Tina and I had a good journey to Mirfield yesterday evening and had a very nice twin room which was near the toilets and bathrooms which was great too. We were the only people booked in for the night and up on the second floor. (Never far from stairs of hills these days!) It was a bit cold and dull but not wet when we arrived so we had a walk round the grounds before going to Compline. We saw part I hadn't been to before, large fish in the rose garden pond.
I had seen the graveyard before and find it both tranquil and quite moving to think of so many monks at rest there.
Some lovely countryside around and the grounds themselves are extensive and varied.
Three more pics from out walk.

After Compline we went back to our room and had a drink and then I went and had a lovely bath, the baths are huge, I could have lied down in the bottom! After breakfast this morning we cleared the room and I settled down in the art room. Tina had meetings and people to catch up with. I could go along and make myself drinks so all was good. I took some pictures out of and one just of the windows.

It was raining all morning but \I could see the allotment and the rose garden from different windows.I had taken the pyrography tool with me and had traced off a pattern of a tiger yesterday in case I had a chance to work on it. I did, and have to say I am pleased with the result. Just using one tip and both the heat settings.
Tina went along to the lunch time service and then we set off for home, stopping at a fantastic garden centre for lunch. I bought two house plants, this one because I was taken with them at the flower displays at the church, these red blooms are not nearly as big as they were, but hopefully as the plant grows so with they.
The other one is a spider plant, I haven't had one for years and  have always liked them. Looks good on the wooden plant stand too!
I walked up to vote just after we got home, I feel tired and my ankle and knee have been quite sore today, so not planning to do a great deal.

  1. Mirfeild is a lovely place. I'd quite like to visit there myself. The graveyard does look tranquil, and I like the style of the headstones. Definitely worth a visit, and oddly enough Mirfeild is the location of one of my suppliers of pen parts, so double the reasons to visit! Plus I'd like to get a few burrs off that tree stump :-)
My favourite picture from there is your framed greenery. Very artistic. Talking of artistic, the tiger is fantastic!
Your new plants are nice, and the spider plant is perfect for the new plant stand. Hope the cats don't decide to knock it off!

  2. It is lovely, as are the monks. They have a large allotment, an orchard and a wooded area to walk through. I liked the ivy coloured window. Glad you like the tiger, will bring it down with me when I come to Peterborough.
