Today I will add a bit more about the weekend away and then write about this morning which really didn't start well.
The countryside in the Peak District was lovely but we didn't make any stops to capture it's beauty. I did try taking pictures as we sped along so they will give a little idea.

As I said yesterday the flower show was heaving, I have never seen so many cars and coaches, and once in so many people really! One of the first stalls we passed was of wonderful Zimbabwean sculptures, I did buy a small one on the way back and will add that picture at the end.
Changed my mind, will add it now, love this little bird, going to call her Veridy!
There was this large ant at the entrance of an activity area for children.
Some more displays, this stunning circle of colour.
These plants had blue under lighting.
Probably my favourite item of the whole show were some amazing sculptures of dandelion heads, absolutely glorious.

One of the bridges was a floating one which was quite alarming as it was very windy. This bridge was decorated as a boat.
This rock garden was quite different and tranquil.

Another large insect on the other side of the lake.
Absolutely loved this bench, so if you ever have the inclination Mike!!
I decided to take up the offer of a half price ticket into the house and gardens, offered if you had a ticket for the flower show. As I said, the house is huge and the tour round covers three floors. I found that it was very tiring, I enjoyed it though, but it was a lot of walking around for me in one day. So, the painted ceiling.
An 1800's style scrapbook.
There were lots of great period outfits, the second one of these was beautifully hand embroidered.

I was talking to one of the guides about the lovely Chinese wallpaper in a couple of rooms. He said that it was hung horizontally as they couldn't print on longer pieces of paper in earlier periods.
A couple from the gardens, I didn't have long out there or the energy to wander around anyway!

I think that is probably the most photos I have ever put in a post, could have been a lot more!
This morning I had planned to go for my injection and then get the bus into town with the trolley, so ad use the pool and then shop and come home. The plans changed when the surgery phoned to say the doctor had called in sick! So now I have to wait another week. Tina kindly dropped me off near the hotel on her way into the office. When I got down to the health suite the pool was closed, so not swim and no shopping as I don't take my purse with me.
Sandy had phoned earlier to ask if I wanted a trip out, so we went out for lunch and then both did some shopping at Lidl, so it all worked out well in the end. I will check later to make sure the pool is up and running tomorrow.

  1. Wow, lots of great pictures tonight. What a great trip it was. Definitely worth the amount of time you had to spend on the coach. The stuff at the flower show was worth the effort in itself, but adding the house to it as well made for a great trip. The sculptures are really nice, and I'm with you about the dandelion, it's brilliant. I love the way it's blowing away in the wind. The house and its contents make really good viewing too. So much stuff to photograph. I can see why you took 100 pics. The dresses are quite spectacular. Even though they're not really my thing, I can appreciate the amount of work that's gone into them. Definitely a house I'd like to visit myself.
Not good news about the injection, or lack of it. I wonder if he was really sick, or if he just fancied playing golf :-)

  2. Really pleased I went on the trip, not somewhere I would get to if I had to arrange getting there and booking a hotel on my own.I tried to pick photos that I could actually make interesting as well, but it was difficult to keep it down to that many!
