The sky was quite muted last night but as I had the red camera out with the extra zoom I took quite a lot of pics.
I didn't have a great night, so woke up in a really foul mood which is not like me at all. Haven't completely shaken it off all day. Sadly the pool at the hotel is not likely to be open again until next week, but I caught the bus into town as Darren and Tina had asked me to collect their new parking permits. Managed two out of three, as Tina has an extra one which they wouldn't process today as they wanted extra paper work. Took a picture of the sea through the trees while I was that end.
I went up and got a few bits at the new Grapevine shop and then made my way to the studio. I had told Sandy that I would definitely clean and fill the paint pots this week as I haven't for a little while now. I got on with that and Sandy told me the latest gossip she has and showed me some of the items she was glazing. She had taken her ninety year old mum to the hospital for minor eye surgery earlier and was going to be going out for a while to collect her and take her home later. There was a lady booked in with a toddler for the afternoon and Sandy had arranged that Donna would come in for a while so that I wasn't left on my own. Sandy went off and I did have time to do the top of a trinket box with some of the dried paint that I collect when cleaning the pots.
That will be fired without glazing to fix the pieces on and then I will finish painting it and the base for a glazed firing. The lady and her daughter came it at 2 pm as planned, Donna hadn't arrived but Sandy had hoped to be back soon after 2 pm. Time went on and the toddler finished painting three plates, one for her dad and two for grandfathers. Now about 2.45 pm. no Donna or Sandy and they wanted hand prints on the plates. I have seen them doing them many times but have never actually done them. But luckily the little lass was very good and we managed pretty well. I am showing the tops but we even did hand prints underneath as well!
I wasn't going to take the payment as I haven't used the till again in quite a while and she wanted to use a card, so had arranged for her to pay on collection, but as luck would have it Sandy came back at that point and sorted that out. Sandy had realised that I wasn't having a good day and got me a lovely bouquet of flowers from the shop over the road, that was very sweet of her.
She has some cans of lemon drink so I was having one with her before I walked home and managed to tip most of it over myself right through my top trousers and underwear. Just one of those days, but we did have a good laugh about it. I mopped the floor and then walked home before I could cause any more chaos!
Have had a quiet afternoon, I have got ironing to do but it will keep. I will watch Holby later which will do nothing to improve my mood I imagine!
I like the muted skies. You never get bored with those skies, they're totally different each time. They're just blue or grey here!
ReplyDeleteNot really a wonderful day for you! But you did get the trinket box lid done, so not a total loss, and looking on the bright side it can only get better tomorrow, can't it?
The plates look fine. I'm sure dad and grandads will be pleased with them. Bit nerve racking adding the handprints though I imagine. The flowers were a lovely thought, and very colourful. Hopefully the bright colours and the smells have brightened you a little.
I was a bit anxious getting the hand prints done, the little lass had spent quite a while painting the plates and I didn't want them to be a mess. But she was so good it ended up being quite easy to do which was a bonus. The flowers are very colourful and have brightened my day.
