This morning I went out to catch the bus at 9.30 am to go into town. I had some letters to post and was in the post office for a long time as there was sizeable queue that was even longer when I was leaving, must be getting near Christmas! Waiting at the bus stop the sky was really bright behind the houses, there was a frost this morning and the sky was very clear.
I walked down to Marks and Spencer and strangely they didn't have apricot glaze, but I did find apricot conserve which did the job. I went into the Brunswick Centre as Georgia at the Clinique counter had put a jar of moisturiser on one side for me. I had a quick wander round as I had a bit of time before my bus home. Took a picture of these huge bauble decorations, which I actually think are quite ugly, but you certainly wouldn't miss them/.
So, this afternoon I got the cakes down and they now all have a marzipan coating. One of them is going to just have decoration on now but the rest will have to be ices before they are decorated. I have about eleven days before we take them to Peterborough.
There was a fair bit of marzipan left over so I cut out some holly shapes and maybe I will decorate them with some chocolate.
I have done a few more rows to the scarf and done some ironing this afternoon. May make a start on the Christmas cards this evening.
Everywhere is busy this time of year, sadly. It was heaving in town today when I went, and even the shops that are usually quiet were very busy. Just glad I wasn't staying there for long. I'm dreading going to do my supermarket shopping as the people will all have overflowing trollies as usual for Christmas! I agree with you about the bauble, they're horrid.
ReplyDeleteThe cakes are looking good. As mine doesn't have icing, does that mean I get extra chocolate covered marzipan leaves instead? :-) Not long now before I get to taste it. Can't wait.
You'll have to wait and see, maybe you will, if I get around to the chocolate bit! I think any sort of shopping is going to be a trial for the next few weeks!
