Well, hospital appointment day arrived. Tina took me to the hospital, I told her I would be fine getting the bus home and just as well as I was there over an hour. I had not set out with high expectations but secretly hoped I might get an injection and some improvement would be seen. I saw one of the consultants assistants first, he was very charming and very thorough with his examination. As the pain is mainly bad when I walk it seemed I was telling him things didn't hurt that much and he said I have pretty good movement in the foot, but I have done the exercises pretty consistently so that must have helped with that. Anyway we went away and said he would have a word with the consultant. I waited for quite a while and then the consultant came to see me. More questions and a quick examination then he said that he was put me on the list for surgery. The trouble is at the base of the tendon and apparently that is the hardest area to fix. The surgery will entail scraping of bone and cleaning up the tendon, re-attaching the tendon and then me having my foot in a 'pot' for three months. That won't happen until next year though, I have had as x-ray and will get an appointment for an ultrasound. I caught the bus into town, did a couple of things and then went to catch the bus back home. There was a school band playing outside the Brunswick.
When I got home I had a drink with Darren and Tina and then Tina and I went to get some shopping in for the weekend. I am still wearing socks and sandals as my heel is so sensitive and it would be today that a man ran into me with his trolley and the wheel hit right on the most tender part of my ankle, that really helped! Years ago my sister and niece had a dog with short legs and quite distinctive. A gift shop in the Brunswick has displayed a model dog from time to time that has always reminded me of him. He goes off display and then appears again, the price has slowly come down. Today Tina took me there after we did the grocery shop and I bought him. Will probably be in trouble now, but the deed is done!
Hi is quite big but Rose likes natural looking animal ornaments. I have rested my ankle and watched an episode of Dr Blake. Colonel came up and for a while settled on the cat bed that has become Blue's night time spot.
I have written and sent off ten cards I think, will try and get a few more done this evening.

  1. This is my third time trying to reply as the Internet fairies keep eating them. Maybe because it's 5am!
Glad you got somewhere with a diagnosis and hopefully it won't take too long to come through. You're pretty good at coping with it by now, so 3 month wait for an abandoned then a pot for a while will be easy peasy :-) Hope you expressed your feelings to the plonker who ran into your foot, as you know I would have!
Reading about you doing your Christmas cards reminds me I must do the 2 I send out :-)
Rose will love the dog, but you'll be in SO much trouble! Good luck with that.
If this reply doesn't send then the phone is going out the window!
