Send in the flies!

I went along to the shop for the lunch rolls as usual and decided to go into the front garden for a bit quite early. The front garden beckoned as we have spikey bush that hangs over the wall, it was also tall and leggy. A good reason to use the new hedge trimmers as well. I hoed round the main bed first and may remember I left some dead leaves in that bed to see if  the plant would recover. It has.
There was a single toadstool on the corner lawn!
I did tidy the bed along the edge as well, but only roughly.
I decided to go and see Sher at the shop as I was wearing the necklace she made for me as it went with my colourful t shirt. Had a cuppa with her and a natter. The pinnacles on the church have been under repair and the men have now started removing the scaffolding so I took a couple of pics. What a fantastic job they heave done.
Tina went to a village fete this afternoon, got a lovely new cordyline for the garden and a pair of earrings for me,
I sat and started sorting the edge pieces of the jigsaw this afternoon, I think it will be quite a tricky one!
Now lots of pics of files and hover flies, stop now it if you don’t want to see them!

Friday visits and scones!

Pandoras latest sleeping spot in the day is next to the recliner. I sit there occasionally during the day and she settled near me the other day and now goes there regularly. She wa well away today, even her tail was still!
Bel was okay this morning, feeling more tired these days and tries to get one job done a day. We had our usual cuppa and natter.
I went round the garden when I came home and was taking, or trying to take pictures of the insects on the little alliums that are near the end of their flowering. I missed the bees on the first couple but decided to post them as well, as they really are great to photograph at the moment. Then a couple that caught bees and the last one there is a hover fly at the top.
Tina gave me a lift to Jeans this afternoon, she was okay too and is still going to her sessions in the pool to help with her back pain. I walked home today as Terry had a cataract back via the sea and the coast watch building,
I made some scones this evening for Tina to take to the fete in one of the villages tomorrow.
Another lazy evening, it’s becoming a habit!

Trip to Driffield

We were later away this morning as we were waiting for the new Ringtons delivery man to arrive. He always comes later than Shane used to and we haven’t seen him for the last two calls. We wanted extra tea bags this time so Tina can take plenty away with her. So it was getting on for lunch time when we left so we went straight to a new restaurant that is next to Rafters, where my veggie boxes come from. The cafe hasn’t been open long but it was very busy, they first said there wasn’t a table then some people got up to go so we were lucky. I don offer take pics of the meals but made an exception today. Mine was a Thai salad with satay chicken and Tina’s there take on a breakfast.
We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals. We only had a couple of hours in the car park but we managed to get a new pair of sandals each and enjoyed browsing at the fruit and ver in Rafters. We did buy some including carrot bunches, ordinary and red. I had cut the tops and washed them in the photo, the red/purple ones are quite a lot darker in reality, I wonder if they will lose their colour when cooked.
We bought a few bit in Lidl before heading home. Tina spotted a decorated rat in one of the villages and stopped so I could get out to photograph it. A particularly nicely decorated rat, wish we had it in Hornsea.
I had been looking at the local paper before we went out and spotted a little article about Rosie.
A few weeks ago when I was clearing stuff on the landing I found an amaryllis that had been there a couple of years or more which had green shoots. Those leaves are now humongous but no sign it is going to have a bloom!
Will rising with some pics of me in Ghana when I did some work at the school my host worked at. No such thing as health and safety there!

Popping in and out but not too active

I went to the shop fairly early to get some cream and milk, one for tea and one to go with the crumble I made yesterday. The lads arrived that mow the lawn, but it didn’t need mowing so they did some clearing of the ever growing jungle in the areas I don’t get to! We have a Hornsea herring apple tree which the guys cleared around, I planted it a few years ago and it has quite a crop of fruit this year.
Apparently it is a dual purpose apple, cooking;eater, so will try them out when they are a bit bigger.
The few sunflowers that I kept going have been slow to grow, not helped by the weather, but they have now reached over five feet and  are forming flowers.
I went along to see Sher at the shop, Indid buy a necklace for a present and spotted a pretty plant which she just gave to me. It is a small plant but I will be careful not to say I like things in future!
On Monday when I went to the banking hub I spotted a decanter that I thought would be good for Sher to use as  terrarium but it was £5 so I thought I would check with her when I saw her. I was describing it to her today and she said she was interested, so I walked to the charity shop and it was still there, then took it back to her, taking a picture of it on the churchyard wall on the way!
Tina had meetings and a man was coming to check for asbestos in the house this afternoon, I did start to remove the pattern pieces and begin to think about the making of the trousers. He was here for an hour and a half and and took a few samples which he thinks will come back negative!
I took some photos in the front garden when I was putting the bin out.
The only surviving agapanthus. Then bees for a change.
Bought this one a few weeks ago and it is looking good.
This was one one of the tubs last year and against all the odds it has flowered gain this year!
Was thinking about doing a bit more to the trousers, but that would men moving from my comfortable chair!
