St George’s Day

Interestingly my calendar didn’t mention St George’s Day today, it mentioned World Book Night and Talk Like Shakespeare Day!

Sometimes I have lots of birds waiting for me to put the food out, today just a seagull and a crow as I made my way indoors.

I haven’t felt overly bright today so haven’t done a great deal. I went to the shop early and took a couple of pictures in the front garden on my way back.

I did a bit of tidying in my sitting room as it was becoming more cluttered that usual.

After lunch I started the jigsaw that Anya got me for Christmas, which I received last week when we went to Peterborough. I thought some edge pieces were missing but ai had put the picture on top of them! So edge now done and I have done a bit more since.

I went onto the Escape Pain website and went through the first session of exercises. It is a six week program and there are two sessions each week. Quite a variety of exercises and I have now ordered some resistance bands as a few of the exercises needed them. I will endeavour to keep to the program.

When Tina and ai were going through the shopping order in her office Pandora came up onto the back of the chair near me, so Tina took this rather nice photo.

I got the hose into the wheelbarrow and took it into the front garden, then was able to water the whole of the front garden without too much trouble. Tina has ordered a long hose so that we h ave one permanently in the front garden, that will make watering a lot easier.

Instant Book Day!

Mmm, instant book day, perhaps I should set too and pen that book I have been going to write for years! In the real world I went out with Sarah and David this morning to an eating place in Ulrome where we met up with Eileen to celebrate her birthday which is on Saturday.

When I got home my package was on the doorstop, it is not one massage ball, but two, so I can do both legs at the same time! They were very reasonably priced and look quite funky!

I got a bit chilled when we were sitting chatting and having lunch and didn’t feel too energetic this afternoon. But I did potter in the walled garden, we had a rose in a planter which I took out and have planted in the garden. It was in a flowerpot but I filled the planter with compost this time and put the everlasting sweet pea and some annual sweet peas in it.

I cleared off the stone bench and moved one of the planter onto it and put a plant into the cup and saucer that I bought a while ago.

One of the ducks appeared in the garden this morning, I went to collect my camera but when I went outside I spooked them and they flew away. This evening he was back with his lady, I just took a picture through the window with my phone!

I watered the walled garden and the back garden this evening, that took getting on for an hour. I will maybe get the front done tomorrow!

What was nice today was that I got a load of washing dried out on the line, I have been hoping for rain but glad it stayed dry today!

Bus trip to Beverley!

Big step forward today, decided to have a bus trip as there were a couple of shops I wanted to visit in person. Beverley seemed a good place to start getting out as the journey isn’t quite so long and Beverley is a lovely place to wander round. Let’s start with a picture inside the bus!

It was a bit cooler today but I really enjoyed my trip out and went in lots of shops and the antique centre. Had a lovely take away lunch of a sausage sandwich and a latte costing me the princely sum of £3.50!  Took a picture of a tile in one of the side streets, they are dotted about the place if you look!

I made my way back towards the bus station, got a take away drink and piece of cake and took them to the lovely remembrance garden by St Mary’s church. Took a few pictures there, it is a really peaceful spot.

On the bus on the way to Beverley I thought how lovely the fields of rapeseed looked in the sun, although I am aware the smell is awful for people with chest problems. I couldn’t get a good angle for a picture but did manage to on the way home.

When I was at the antique centre I managed to get another spider in the same cabinet I have bought from before, it is a brass ornament and was £5! Also got a little elephant brooch to send to a friend.

I gave the spider a bit of a clean, but it could do with some more attention.

I went into the greenhouse and moved all the plants from there into the walled garden. They need to harden off so I can get them into the garden and they were getting scorched in the greenhouse as well as leggy.

Then it was time to go down the road to see the medical practitioner that helps Tina with her back pain. She went through my medical history and then did some pretty heavy duty work on the muscle in my left leg. She advised me about a free nhs app called Escape Pain especially for people with arthritis. I have signed up for that and she also recommended a massage ball, I have ordered one to arrive tomorrow. She was very good and I will see her again in a month.

All in all a good day.

Will be dreaming about stepping stones!

I was out in the garden by 8 am with the intention of getting the rest of the stepping stones lifted and the whole area dug. Took another picture before ai started, by the time I went in for a break I had done the digging and levelled off.

After a cuppa I went back out, took a while getting them to lay flat, they will bed I better when we have had some rain.

This very pretty daffodil has bloomed in the front garden.

After lunch I cut down a picture and put it into a new frame. This picture, ‘after Peter Scott’ was in Darren’s student house many years ago, a while ago the frame broke and it has been in the cupboard. When I have been sorting I took the picture out of this frame and it is the right size.

This afternoon Lesley came round to see the back garden and to do some weeding. We worked for about an hour and then had another hour or so over a cuppa in the garden getting to know a bit about each other. Hopefully this will become a regular get together,

This evening Tina helped me do some watering in the front garden.

May go out on the bus tomorrow, it has been a while!

First day of milk delivered to the door!

We have been talking about having a milkman again and today was our first delivery. Tina ordered a container as well as our doorstep is in full sun.we even got a free bottle of orange juice today as a welcome gift!

I had a another package to send off so went down to the post office and then up to look at the sea. A Misty morning so quite subtle colours today,

I spent time before lunch working in the garden, back to the path up near the garden bin. A took another picture of where I had got to and another one when I went to get lunch. Quite a few people talked to me about the garden as the town is getting much busier now,

Went out again after lunch, had hoped I may get all the way along but still have four pavers to lift!

After tea I got the hose out and gave the back garden and walled garden a good watering. I did have the greenhouse door open during the day today as I will soon need to get the small plants out to harden off.

Pandora got on my lap when I sat down and I didn’t get her to move for over an hour so doing the blog a bit later!

I have a lady that talked to me when I was out in the garden a few days ago coming to help for a while tomorrow afternoon, then we will be able to have tea on the lawn!

Hello boot sale!

I was up early and fed the birds by 6.30am. I got dressed and sat on the bed with a cup of tea. Pandora came on my lap, she is getting quite fussy at the moment.

We went to the boot sale quite early, the car park was already busy but the actual boot sale not too bad at the start. It was getting busier by the time we had been ther for an hour or more.

We were very good and didn’t buy lots of stuff and then I spotted a photo screen, I thought it would be expensive but when I asked the man said it was £3, nearly snatched his arm off!

As we were leaving the traffic was really building up!

Darren drove down via the sea, which was good, newer had a cup of hot chocolate.

This evening I went to a service remembering Prince Philip, Tina made it a lovely service, not too many of us there but I was please I went along.

After tea Tina and I had a short walk by the sea and on the beach for a while. Some pics but not of the sea!

Just finished in time for Line Of Duty.

Not crazily busy today

When we got home yesterday Blue was in the garden and straight into the house, Pandora was not around and it took several calls to get her to come in. She then spent the rest of the evening avoiding any contact with us, not a happy girl although she was pleased to see us. This morning I was obviously forgiven, she looks a really happy girl!

I mentioned the tiny ‘salt’ that we bought yesterday and have taken a picture, it is so unusual.

I did the usual morning shopping and even bought a small cake as it is Darren and Tina’s wedding anniversary today. The shopping was delivered and then Darren drove me over to Driffield for my second jab. After that Darren went along to an archery shop and I went in as well. I hadn’t realised that they made all sorts of animal targets and they have targets on them! A few pics from the store.

I have spent some of the afternoon watering the garden, even got the hose out. Had a break to watch the funeral and get dinner. Went back out again to finish off a bit later.ma couple of sky shots at different times.

We are going to give the boot sale a try tomorrow, I bet it will be busy. Talking of busy reminds me that on our way to Driffield this morning the queue of cars coming into Hornsea was about a mile long! Town and sea front are out of bounds in the day now!!
